Job Description
Dickerson & Bowen Company, established in 1947, has been a stalwart in the construction materials industry for decades. Operating primarily in central and southern Mississippi, the company is a key player in the aggregates and asphalt supply chain, providing high-quality materials and services that support infrastructure development and growth across the region. With four asphalt plants and two active sand and gravel plants, Dickerson & Bowen has created a vertically integrated platform that ensures reliability, efficiency, and excellence in every project undertaken. The company is known for its commitment to safety, quality, and employee development, making it a leading employer in the construction sector.
The Materials Quality Control (QC) Technician Level I role at Dickerson & Bowen is a vital position within the company’s operations. As a QC Technician Level I, you will be responsible for testing, sampling, and inspecting various construction materials, including soil, aggregate, hot mix asphalt (HMA), and Portland cement concrete (PCC). This role is essential for ensuring that all materials meet the strict quality standards set by suppliers and project owners, contributing directly to the successful completion of construction projects. The technician works both in laboratory and field settings, applying technical knowledge and quality control procedures to maintain the highest standards. Additionally, the position involves preparing and communicating test results to supervisors and plant personnel to guide quality control decisions.
Safety and compliance are deeply ingrained aspects of the job. The role requires adherence to company policies, safety regulations including OSHA and MSHA standards, and active participation in promoting a safe working environment. The job description highlights the physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and the occasional need to operate computer equipment, all critical to effective performance. This role is best suited for individuals eager to start or continue a career in construction materials testing, with opportunities to gain certifications and grow within a reputable company. Dickerson & Bowen insists on a drug-free workplace and follows inclusive hiring practices, providing equal opportunity employment to all, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
