The Materials Project Manager role at Terracon is a pivotal position within the company’s largest workforce segment—the materials team. The team plays a crucial role in ensuring that the materials used in constructing the nation’s critical infrastructure are safe, durable, and compliant with industry standards. This role involves managing all aspects of construction materials testing projects, from inception through completion. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within scope and budget. Your project oversight will include progress monitoring, troubleshooting operational issues, minimizing delays, and resource management including scheduling, budgeting, forecasts, and working closely with external vendors, subcontractors, and contractors. The position requires active communication with clients and internal teams to coordinate efforts, especially at critical decision points, ensuring smooth project execution and client satisfaction.

Additional responsibilities include leading safety efforts by preparing and enforcing safety plans and promoting a culture of safety across project teams. The role also involves quality monitoring and continuous improvement practices to uphold Terracon’s high standards. You will conduct meetings, prepare reports, and effectively communicate project status to all stakeholders. Routine site visits and field testing are part of the job requirement to maintain first-hand project knowledge and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as engineering, environmental science, or geology are preferred, along with at least five years of related experience, or nine years of related experience in lieu of a degree. Professional licensures such as Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) are advantageous but not mandatory.
