The role of the Materials Planner centers on managing the backlog from order entry through to shipment, ensuring that the flow of materials meets the production schedule without delays or disruptions. This involves a systematic and proactive approach to identifying potential supply chain risks and coordinating corrective actions by liaising with multiple departments, including Contracts, Receiving, Shipping, and Production. Key responsibilities encompass monitoring sales orders, aligning vendor deliveries with manufacturing needs, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining comprehensive visibility into the production supply network. Candidates in this role must exhibit strong organizational skills and a strategic mindset to effectively prioritize workload amidst competing deadlines. Familiarity with Manufacturing Resource Planning systems, especially JDE MRP and ERP platforms, will support the planner in optimizing order processing, managing purchase orders, and generating work orders with accuracy. Moreover, sound knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, military and commercial standards, and machine shop practices will enhance the planner's capability to anticipate and mitigate bottlenecks. Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • 2-4 years of planning experience
  • 5 years in production control or material/inventory management within aerospace or defense
  • Experience with MRP and ERP systems
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of JDE MRP highly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to sit for long periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work first shift

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • 2-4 years of experience in planning
  • 5 years of experience in production control including material or inventory management in defense or aerospace
  • Experience with JDE MRP system
  • Experience with MRP or ERP systems
  • Knowledge of SAP desirable
  • Familiarity with machine shop practices and processing standards
  • Knowledge of military and commercial standards
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Job Duties

  • Maintain effective control of the backlog from order entry through shipment
  • Ensure each order is planned and acted upon in a timely manner
  • Liaison with Contracts on loading and lead-time of new sales orders
  • Monitor the sales backlog
  • Prioritize material handling according to schedule and workload
  • Coordinate purchase and planning of required materials
  • Expedite and schedule orders to meet company requirements
  • Process changes, reschedules and outside processing
  • Place purchase orders
  • Generate work orders based on MRP messages
  • Negotiate price and deliveries
  • Ensure on-time delivery of quality products
  • Identify potential late deliveries and plan recovery
