This full-time position offers an annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $65,950 and includes a competitive benefits package. The role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of unit production by monitoring inventory levels, coordinating deliveries, and managing purchasing requirements based on menu changes and meal cycles. As a key player in the unit’s success, you will oversee labor controls, communicate regularly across departments, and assist in the training and development of staff. You will be responsible for maintaining safety, quality, and compliance according to FDA, HACCP, and customer specifications. This role requires strong leadership to manage workflow, manpower planning, and performance evaluations, while also handling administrative reporting and adherence to company policies and union agreements.
Working in this position entails a commitment to upholding gategroup's standards in both operational excellence and employee relations. You will liaise between production and purchasing teams to ensure timely and effective problem resolution. Additionally, maintaining equipment through routine preventive maintenance schedules and collaborating with maintenance staff will be crucial to your duties. Given the physical demands of the job, including standing for long shifts, lifting heavy items, and managing a rotating 55+ hour workweek, resilience and adaptability are essential. Travel for this role may be required up to 10% of the time, reflecting the need to support operations across different sites or engage with diverse teams.
This role demands excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with bilingual abilities in Spanish considered a plus. Candidates must be comfortable interacting with all employee levels and possess strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills to thrive in the fast-paced environment. Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must have 3 years of supervisory or management experience
- Ability to pass a 20 year FBI fingerprint-based background check
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during long shifts
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move items over 25 pounds
- Ability to work over 55 hours per week on a rotating schedule
- Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Some college preferred
- Must have 3 years of supervisory or management experience
- Experience in scheduling and financial acumen
- In-flight catering experience is highly desired or experience in high-volume food service industry
- Current or previous labor relations experience is a plus
- Experience with menu design a plus
- Candidate should be comfortable with all levels of employees
- Must have strong and effective leadership skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Ability to train others
- Ability to give negative and positive feedback daily
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication and leadership skills

- Basic computer skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus
Job Duties
- Ensures unit maintains production standards
- Ensures labor controls are in place and are effective
- Ensures interdepartmental communication occurs regularly
- Assist in the development and training of subordinates
- Work with management staff to improve performance of the unit
- Prepares administrative reports as required
- Responsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specifications
- Maintains food production area according to unit policies, FDA, and HACCP regulations
- Ensures all security and safety procedures are enforced
- Maintains accuracy and security of inventory
- Monitors closely the thaw area and high value inventories reporting their condition and other issues to the Chef and Buyer daily
- Acts as the point of contact with production for the Buyer relaying issues and suggestions for resolution
- Works with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery according to schedules, reports maintenance and repair issues in timely manner
- Prepares management reports as required
- Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and preparing corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with HR and other support functions
- Manages workflow balancing amongst employees on each shift
- Manages daily manpower planning including assignment of responsibilities and workstations
- Determines when and whether to call employees in to cover staffing needs
- Ensures compliance with company wage and hour policy
- Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and food expenses
- Responsible for coaching, counseling and preparing corrective actions in compliance with union agreements
- Reviews and ensures employees in chain of command are in correct cost centers and correct job titles
- Compliance with all company required policies, procedures and processes including required training
