Currently, M&J Engineering is seeking experienced Materials Inspectors to join their team. Responsibilities include performing field sampling and testing according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Materials Manual of Instructions, conducting density and compaction tests, documenting and maintaining detailed test records, and coordinating with inspection staff and contractors.

Materials Inspectors are also responsible for verifying compliance with VDOT specifications and material acceptance criteria, maintaining and calibrating testing equipment including nuclear density gauges, and assisting with test result documentation for project monitoring and pay estimate verification. This position demands a thorough understanding of material behavior, quality control procedures, and safety standards.

Preferred qualifications include NICET Level II or III certification in Construction Materials Testing, TxDOT Material Testing and Inspection precertifications, and OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training.

M&J Engineering offers competitive salaries based on experience and credentials. Beyond compensation, the company provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, and more.
