Job Description
Curtiss-Wright EMS - Steam & Air Solutions (SAS) is a leading supplier of technologically advanced turbine-drive and shipboard compression equipment, primarily serving the U.S. Navy. With a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and superior engineering solutions, SAS plays a critical role in powering hundreds of Navy vessels. Their innovative products support essential functions such as propulsion, power generation, pump drives, ship service air, oxygen/nitrogen feed air, generator drives, and deballasting. SAS operates globally and leverages extensive resources to meet the Navy's current and future operational demands, making them a logical choice for mission-critical solutions in naval engineering. The company fosters a culture of inclusivity and support, with a clear commitment to environmental, social, and governance values, while providing a comprehensive benefits package and competitive pay to their employees.
The Material Planner role at Curtiss-Wright EMS - SAS is an essential position responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating materials to support manufacturing operations, particularly during the back shift. This position operates under minimal supervision and involves collaboration across multiple work centers to ensure assigned product schedules are maintained efficiently. Material Planners utilize computer technologies and systems, such as Oracle and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, to manage production plans effectively. Responsibilities include reviewing production schedules, organizing production activities to ensure smooth product flow, maintaining inventory controls, and interfacing with other departments to prevent material flow interruptions.
The role requires strong organizational skills to handle production control procedures like material picking, serialization, lot splits, and maintaining product bills of materials and work instructions. Additionally, the Material Planner will prepare production reports, initiate purchase requisitions, and work closely with purchasing agents to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials. Participation in project planning, readiness reviews, sourcing meetings, and demand reviews is also part of this role. The position demands excellent communication skills to resolve scheduling conflicts and provide backup support for storeroom personnel and other planners.
Offering a competitive hourly pay range of $25.38 to $36.63, the company provides a robust benefits program that includes paid time off, 401K with employer match and profit sharing, health and wellness benefits, learning and development opportunities, referral bonuses, an employee stock purchase plan, and a culture that recognizes and values each team member's contributions. This role specifically requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) security clearances due to the nature of the work involved.
This position suits candidates with a bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience in materials management, manufacturing planning, stockroom operations, expedited order processing, or capacity planning. Familiarity with ERP systems, MRP, Microsoft Office, and Oracle systems is highly beneficial. Successful candidates must be capable of working in fast-paced environments and comply with quality and efficiency standards while effectively communicating across departments. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
