The Material Handler - Split Shift role at Eaton's Dallas facility is a critical position within the distribution center. The role's core hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., with mandatory overtime that may extend beyond these hours based on customer demand. This hourly position pays $20.00 per hour, representing a competitive wage in the industry. The Material Handler is primarily responsible for moving materials throughout the facility, including receiving, restocking, picking, packing, and shipping. This ensures that customer orders are processed smoothly and delivered accurately and on time. New hires are placed on a 90-day introductory period focusing on safety, conduct, attendance, quality, and productivity to qualify for continued employment.

In this role, individuals will use various equipment including standup forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and cherry pickers to handle materials safely and efficiently. Key tasks include retrieving correct materials based on orders, verifying product counts using scanning equipment, unloading and staging pallets, generating move tickets, sorting materials, and resolving any discrepancies that might arise during processing. Maintaining high-quality workmanship and adhering to Eaton’s stringent safety procedures are paramount, as is the ability to adapt by performing tasks of equal or lower classification when necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum six months experience with two or more of the following: Standup forklift, Reach truck, Order picker, or Cherry picker
  • Candidates must be within a 50-mile radius of Dallas, TX
  • Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from geographical limitation
  • Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position
  • Ability to work specific shift hours including mandatory overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment with a safety focus
  • Ability to work daily and/or weekend overtime, cross-train, and flex to different areas or local plants as needed
  • Must pass a 90-day introductory period addressing safety, conduct, attendance, quality, and productivity

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum six months experience with two or more of the following: Standup forklift, Reach truck, Order picker, or Cherry picker
  • One year of experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment preferred
  • Ability to work specific shift hours and have flexibility to work overtime based on customer demand
  • ERP experience (SAP) preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate professional attitude, solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to meet expectations during a 90-day introductory period addressing safety, conduct, attendance, quality, and productivity

Job Duties

  • Retrieve appropriate styles and quantities of material from warehouse locations using appropriate picking process
  • Place materials in containers, visually inspect product, verify with scanning equipment if required, verify accuracy of product count
  • Restock and replenish materials
  • Unload and stage pallets of materials in appropriate areas of Receiving
  • Utilize packing slips to generate print move tickets, breakdown material, sort styles, verify count and restock appropriate warehouse locations via Rf scanners
  • Verify styles and quantities of materials picked
  • Visually inspect products, scanning and place in shipping carton
  • Place packing material in shipping carton to minimize product damage during shipping
  • Place packing lists, content labels and shipping labels where needed
  • Resolve discrepancies and research all possible solutions to ensure order accuracy
  • Maintain quality workmanship, observe safety procedures, report unsafe acts and perform work of equal or lower classification if necessary
