The Material Handler role at Greenbrier is integral to the efficient operation of the plant and yard facilities. This position involves the loading, unloading, and movement of materials necessary for production and daily operations. The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, processing, and tagging incoming materials, ensuring accurate inventory management. Additionally, the role includes the delivery of parts to various areas within the plant to support ongoing work processes, performing cycle counts and physical inventories, and maintaining equipment such as forklift trucks to ensure safety and operational readiness.
Individuals in this role must be adept at organizing and prioritizing projects, communicating clearly with team members and vendors, and working within a team environment to meet tight deadlines. The position requires physical stamina as workers often operate in both hot and cold environments and must safely navigate around heavy equipment and railcars. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory, reflecting the company’s commitment to safety.
Greenbrier values experience in materials handling or warehouse environments, as well as skills in operating forklifts or other heavy equipment. Candidates with at least one year of industrial material handling experience are preferred. - Materials or warehouse experience
- One plus years’ work experience as a material handler in an industrial setting
- Experience driving a forklift or other heavy equipment
Job Duties
- Receives, processes and tags incoming material
- Moves inventory materials to their respective area
- Delivers parts to areas in the plant where work is in process
- Performs cycle counting and physical inventories as directed
- Maintains forklift trucks in clean, good working order
- Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to special processes
