The Maritime System Division (MSD) of Leidos is currently seeking an experienced Logistics Specialist to join its team at the Long Beach, Mississippi facility. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and are passionate about logistics planning and support. In this role, the Logistics Specialist will be responsible for controlling the flow of goods, services, and information from the point of origin through customer delivery to ensure strict adherence to customer requirements and continuous improvement of standard logistic processes. The position plays a critical role in coordinating the efficient movement of equipment and materials, supporting project planning and execution, and maintaining high standards of inventory accuracy and order fulfillment.

The Logistics Specialist will participate actively in team meetings to align with project goals and deadlines, receiving materials into the warehouse and inventory systems, conducting inspections on incoming shipments, and processing program requests for internal and external equipment shipments. This role oversees strategizing the movement of goods to meet customer needs while maintaining excellent order accuracy and timely delivery. Responsibilities also include preparing shipments, organizing and scheduling truck transportation, creating shipping documents, and adhering to documented procedures for receiving and shipping. Additionally, the specialist will provide logistics support for equipment configuration and complete necessary material transfer documentation, such as DD1149 forms.

Job Duties

  • Participate in team meetings to understand, influence, and support project planning and deadlines
  • Receive material into the warehouse
  • Perform inspections on incoming deliveries
  • Receive material into the inventory control system (ServiceNow)
  • Receive program requests for shipments of equipment internally and externally
  • Strategize and coordinate the movement of goods and resources to meet customer needs
  • Receive and address orders promptly and accurately to fulfill customer requests and maintain order accuracy
  • Prepare shipments for delivery and organize/schedule trucks
  • Update and follow documented procedures for receiving and shipping
  • Create shipping documents and packaging material for shipment
  • Plan and coordinate the movement of goods through various modes of transportation to ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency
  • Perform logistics support for the team to perform equipment configuration
  • Complete DD1149’s and all material transfer documents
