We're actively seeking dynamic leaders to join our team as Assistant Store Managers, or Mates, who will play a pivotal role in nurturing and mentoring Crew members. As a Mate at Trader Joe's, your primary responsibility is to lead by example and help cultivate a store culture that embodies the company’s core values. You will be instrumental in developing and empowering your teammates through coaching and direction, ensuring the store operates smoothly while delivering exceptional customer service. Your leadership will foster a supportive and positive workplace where all employees can succeed and grow professionally.

In this role, you will engage in various operational facets, including assisting with cash register functions, carefully bagging groceries, stocking and receiving inventory, and maintaining an inviting store atmosphere. Job Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Three or more years of recent retail, restaurant, or hospitality experience
  • Two or more years of recent management or supervisory experience
  • History of developing individuals and teams through empowerment and integrity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead by example
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Three or more years of recent retail, restaurant, or hospitality experience
  • Two or more years of recent management or supervisory experience
  • Proven track record of developing individuals and teams through empowerment and integrity
  • Strong leadership and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Lead and develop Crew members through role-modeling and support
  • Work collaboratively with teams and build relationships with Crew
  • Improve the quality of store life and foster a positive environment
  • Coach Crew members to enhance their performance
  • Model behavior that supports Trader Joe's core values
  • Operate the cash register in an efficient and friendly manner
  • Stock shelves and receive inventory loads
  • Bag groceries with care and make the store welcoming for customers and Crew
