The district is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to serve as the Safety and Security Technology Lead. This is a full-time, in-person position that plays a critical role in overseeing the district-wide technical support for all safety and security technologies. The ideal candidate will act as the technical authority, leading system integration, establishing standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the highest levels of readiness and reliability of all security technology platforms.

This role encompasses a broad range of advanced technical responsibilities involving electronic security systems, including video management, access control, alarm systems, and the technology infrastructure supporting the Security Operations Center (SOC). The Safety and Security Technology Lead will be instrumental in designing and maintaining technical standards, coordinating complex incidents affecting multiple sites, mentoring technicians, and liaising with vendors and public safety partners to deliver a robust security technology framework. The position requires flexibility to work beyond standard hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call availability for emergency response.

The annual salary range for this position is $51,732 to $59,376, offering candidates competitive compensation alongside a comprehensive benefits package. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience plus specialized post-secondary technical training, courses, or certifications in electronic security systems, networking, or related areas
  • At least five years experience that demonstrates expert knowledge of electronic security platforms, system integration, and complex troubleshooting across distributed environments
  • Two years experience leading technical projects, advanced diagnostics, and/or electronics repair in field environments
  • Demonstrated experience developing SOPs, training, and quality standards
  • experience coordinating multi-vendor environments preferred
  • Experience working in an educational environment preferred
  • Must be able to attend and complete various training sessions to maintain knowledge of current technology and systems
  • Possess a valid Florida driver's license

Job Duties

  • Provide district-wide subject matter expertise and technical leadership for safety and security technology including security cameras and video management software

  • Oversee advanced system programming and administration roles/permissions, site templates, integrations, alert routing, retention/export workflows consistent with approvals and governance
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, refreshes, and new deployments with vendors and district stakeholders
  • develop acceptance tests and verify operational readiness
  • Provide technical oversight for contractor work
  • validate as-built documentation and ensure work aligns to district standards and safety requirements
  • Support and optimize SOC technology and workflows, including monitoring stations, alert integrations, and incident-related video/records exports
  • Mentor and train technicians and senior technicians
  • assign work as needed during incidents and major projects

  • Assist ITS leaders and Safety & Security leadership with technical planning and implementation of safety and security technology projects and refresh cycles
  • Accept shift assignments within a 40-hour week, including nights and weekends, as assigned
  • May require working during non-business hours or non-school days and being on call to resolve safety and security technology issues on an emergency basis
  • Keep current with hardware and software technology through education courses and self-study
