Located in a vibrant area, the hotel boasts a range of upscale amenities designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers. Guests can enjoy dining at the Wadsworth Restaurant and Bar or the Boundary Waters Cafe, as well as relax in the indoor heated pool and maintain their fitness routines at the well-equipped fitness center. The hotel further distinguishes itself with a 60,000 square foot Conference and Event Center, offering 27 versatile and elegant event spaces that can be customized to suit diverse client needs. These spaces feature innovative technology, chef-curated food and beverage options, and the expertise of professional Marriott Certified Conference and Event Planners who ensure seamless event execution. This blend of luxury accommodations and extensive event facilities makes the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest a prominent destination for travelers seeking quality and comfort.
Stepping into the role of Director of Front Office at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest means taking on a pivotal leadership position that drives the hotel's front office operations. This role requires a seasoned hospitality professional who is passionate about creating outstanding experiences for guests and leading their team to exceed service expectations. The Director of Front Office will oversee the entire front office department, ensuring that guest check-in and check-out processes run smoothly and efficiently while maintaining compliance with brand standards and operational policies. This position also encompasses management of room inventory and profitability through careful budgeting and policy enforcement, highlighting the importance of financial acumen alongside service excellence.
A critical aspect of this role is team leadership. The Director of Front Office will coach, motivate, and develop the front office team through supervision, counseling, performance evaluations, and recognition programs. Recruitment, interviewing, and training of new staff are also key responsibilities, shaping a strong and capable team that embodies the hotel's commitment to hospitality. Along with operational duties, the role involves actively monitoring guest satisfaction trends, addressing service issues promptly, and resolving guest concerns with grace and professionalism to ensure positive experiences and foster guest loyalty.
The Director will also play a strategic role in revenue management, launching innovative marketing and upselling initiatives to maximize room occupancy and revenue. Keeping the team informed about hotel promotions and updates is essential to sustaining momentum and enthusiasm across departments. Additionally, the Director of Front Office must be prepared to lead during emergency situations, maintain relevant certifications, manage daily reporting, participate in Manager on Duty shifts, and embrace special projects or challenges, demonstrating adaptability and leadership under pressure.
This demanding yet rewarding opportunity requires a candidate with a strong background in front office management within the hospitality industry, ideally with brand-specific experience and knowledge of property management systems such as OnQ PMS. Candidates with leadership experience in large properties, especially those with 500 or more rooms, and previous director-level roles, will find themselves well-prepared for success in this position. Strong communication, problem-solving, multitasking skills, and a proficiency in Windows-based systems and financial data analysis are critical to managing the complexities of the role and driving operational success.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary with an attractive benefits package, which includes options like daily pay, medical, dental, and vision coverage, short and long-term disability income protection, term life and AD and D insurance, paid time off, an employee assistance program, and a 401k retirement plan. Professionals seeking to advance their career in a dynamic, guest-focused environment will find this opportunity at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest both challenging and fulfilling.
