Job Description
Marriott Knoxville Downtown is a distinguished hotel located in the heart of Knoxville, Tennessee, perfectly situated adjacent to the Convention Center. Known for providing top-tier amenities and exceptional service, Marriott Knoxville Downtown caters to both business and leisure travelers seeking a seamless and enjoyable experience. This hotel boasts a prime downtown location within walking distance of popular attractions such as the Knoxville Museum of Art, historic Market Square, and the University of Tennessee. Guests can start their day with a delightful meal at WINDOWS ON THE PARK Restaurant/Lounge, renowned for its Best-4-Breakfast offering, and unwind after a day of exploring with a relaxing dinner. The hotel also offers family-friendly dining options where kids under 12 eat free at qualifying rates, ensuring a welcoming environment for guests of all ages.
We are currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Catering Manager to join our team. As a pivotal member of our hospitality staff, the Catering Manager will play a crucial role in driving the hotel’s catering sales efforts and enhancing the overall guest experience. This role is designed for someone who thrives in a vibrant, fast-paced environment and possesses a passion for creating memorable events. This position is classified as an overtime eligible manager (OEM), and overtime pay will be provided as appropriate.
The Catering Manager will act as the sales superstar, consistently meeting and exceeding sales and revenue targets while proactively seeking new client accounts. Building strong and lasting relationships with diverse client groups—including leisure guests, business travelers, and social, military, educational, religious, and fraternal (SMERF) groups—is essential. The ability to conduct engaging sales tours and deliver exceptional client experiences will set the selected candidate apart. As an event maestro, the Catering Manager will coordinate event planning details meticulously, managing banquet orders and schedules with precision to ensure flawless execution.
Beyond sales and event coordination, the role demands keen attention to service quality. The Catering Manager will ensure that all guest and team interactions are positive, attentive, and aligned with company standards and catering metrics. Collaboration and teamwork are integral, as the individual will participate actively in meetings, promote special events, and support management teams where needed.
Trustworthiness and professionalism are paramount; the Catering Manager will be responsible for safeguarding sensitive information and representing the company with impeccable judgment and integrity. This position offers an opportunity to shine within the hospitality industry, showcasing creativity and leadership skills while contributing to the hotel’s success.
After an initial waiting period, employees hired full-time will be eligible to participate in a competitive benefits package that enhances wellness and work-life balance. Marriott Knoxville Downtown is committed to the growth and well-being of its managers and employees, making this role an excellent career opportunity for those passionate about hospitality and event management.
