The role of Director of the Front Office is a pivotal leadership position within Marriott Austin North, responsible for orchestrating the entire Front Office operation. The Director leads and inspires the Front Office team to deliver top-tier guest service, starting from seamless check-in and check-out processes to efficient management of room inventory. This role ensures adherence to brand standards while implementing smart budgeting practices and policy enforcement to drive profitability. Apart from operational oversight, the Director acts as a team champion by motivating, coaching, and developing staff through supervision, counseling, professional evaluations, and recognition programs. Recruiting, interviewing, and training new team members also falls under this role's purview, ensuring a strong and capable team. Maintaining guest satisfaction is at the heart of this position, involving monitoring guest service trends, quickly addressing issues, and resolving concerns with professionalism and a positive attitude.

Additionally, the Director of the Front Office contributes to the hotel’s financial success by deploying creative marketing and upselling strategies designed to maximize room occupancy and boost revenue. Keeping the team informed about hotel promotions and happenings is essential to maintaining an engaged and knowledgeable staff. The Director also serves as a crisis commander, prepared with relevant certifications to handle emergencies, leading daily reporting and decision-making processes, and participating in Manager on Duty shifts. The role demands flexibility to take on various projects or challenges, demonstrating leadership agility and a proactive attitude.

Candidates for this leadership role ideally bring at least six years of progressive front desk leadership experience or a combination of relevant education and experience, such as a four-year college degree with four to five years of experience, or a two-year degree accompanied by five to six years in the field. Previous experience with specific brands, OnQ property management system certification, managing properties with over 500 rooms, or prior director-level responsibilities is highly preferred. Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking skills are essential, along with proficiency in Windows operating systems and the ability to analyze financial and operational data. Job Duties

  • Directs all aspects of front office operations including guest check-in/check-out and room inventory management
  • Upholds brand standards and ensures profitability through budget management and policy enforcement
  • Coaches, motivates, and develops front office staff through supervision, counseling, evaluations, and recognition
  • Recruits, interviews, and trains new front office team members
  • Monitors guest service trends and resolves guest concerns promptly to ensure satisfaction
  • Implements marketing and up-selling strategies to maximize room revenue
  • Leads emergency preparedness efforts, participates in Manager on Duty shifts, and manages daily operational reporting
