Designed to be a laid-back space, the Marlin Bar serves as a vibrant gathering spot for both locals and travelers looking to enjoy casual dining and refreshing frozen cocktails. The brand expanded its presence by opening a second location in Palm Springs, California, a city celebrated for its mid-century modernism. Due to increasing guest demand, multiple Marlin Bar locations are planned across the United States and beyond in the coming years. Each venue offers a relaxed environment where customers can relish light fare with friends and family, accompanied by friendly service in a casual, island-inspired atmosphere. The Food and Beverage Host position at Tommy Bahama's Marlin Bar is a pivotal front-of-house role dedicated to ensuring guests receive an exceptional dining experience from the moment they arrive. Serving as the first point of contact, the host warmly engages with guests, manages reservations and waitlists, and coordinates efficient seating to maintain smooth operations. This role requires a proactive team player who can assist with various duties, including clearing tables, supporting table service, and aiding in set up or closing prep tasks as needed. A thorough knowledge of food and beverage menus is essential, allowing the host to respond effectively to guest inquiries. The role demands excellent organizational skills, professional phone etiquette, and outstanding guest service abilities to create a seamless and enjoyable dining atmosphere. Physical stamina is also necessary as the position includes duties such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Job Requirements

  • Generally 1 year of related experience in a full-service restaurant
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have current food handler's card and alcohol service certification as required by federal/state/local law
  • Familiarity with Open Table reservation system preferred
  • Professional phone skills
  • Organization skills
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Basics of food and beverage service/hospitality

Job Duties

  • Engage and greet guests when they first arrive and help seat them promptly and present menus
  • Take guest information while building an organized waitlist
  • Maintain organization of the floor chart, keeping track of available tables and soon to be available
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and appearance of the host area and menus
  • Possess knowledge of all food and beverage menus
  • Monitor and stock restroom supplies and maintain restroom cleanliness
  • Answer phone calls and respond to guest inquiries about the menu, restaurant, or reservations
  • Assist with the process of takeout orders
  • Work as a team with restaurant staff by assisting in other areas of the restaurant as directed by management to ensure smooth operations e.g. clearing and setting tables
  • Perform other duties as needed to help support the overall business
