The Marketing and Event Specialist will be responsible for event coordination including creating engaging community events that foster a sense of connection among local residents while also attracting tourists. Oversight of city festival operations involves logistical planning, vendor management, and securing resources such as rental equipment and entertainment. The specialist is also entrusted with marketing and graphic design duties, generating appealing logos and promotional materials for use on social media and local advertising platforms. Administrative support is another essential function, providing assistance to administrative assistants through task delegation and training. Capturing high-quality photographs at events to maintain a promotional image library is also included.

In addition, this role involves preparing detailed information and facilitating discussions during city event team meetings to ensure smooth coordination across departments. Volunteer management is a crucial aspect, requiring recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers from community sources to support event operations. Securing sponsorships to enhance the success of events by building strong partnerships is also a key responsibility. The work environment for this position is primarily office-based with occasional outdoor activities. The physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as performing fine motor tasks and managing physical equipment up to five pounds. Job Duties

  • Create and coordinate community events that engage local residents and attract visitors to Tomball
  • Assist the Director of Marketing and Tourism in developing programs and events focused on tourism promotion
  • Oversee the logistical planning of city festivals and municipal events
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for food, craft, and attraction vendors, managing assignments and collecting payments
  • Arrange rental equipment, hire entertainment/talent, plan kids activities, and secure all event resources
  • Develop engaging event logos for the city's marketing and social media platforms
  • Promote events through local web publications and targeted school and community advertising
  • Facilitate workflow for administrative assistants by assigning tasks, providing training, and offering guidance
  • Attend city events as needed to capture and edit photographs, maintaining an image library for promotional purposes
  • Prepare and provide comprehensive information for the city's event team meetings
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare documents, and facilitate event-related discussions
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for special events
  • Source volunteers from vendors and other community contacts to support city festivals and community programs
  • Secure sponsorships for events, cultivating partnerships that enhance event success
  • Contribute to team efforts by performing other related duties as assigned
