The role of a Market Place Retail Team Member at Northern Quest Resort & Casino involves engaging directly with guests to assist in merchandise sales and provide quality beverages in the Market Place venue. This position is essential in maintaining the high standard of service expected by guests, ensuring that the retail environment is clean, organized, and inviting. The Market Place Retail Team Member is responsible for preparing beverages according to established standards, following strict health and safety guidelines, and handling cash transactions accurately. This role demands attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple duties such as inventory organization, restocking, and merchandising effectively. Team Members must also be adept at resolving guest concerns promptly and courteously, aligning with the Kalispel Hospitality commitment to superior guest service.

This position requires availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the operational needs of the resort. The Market Place Retail Team Member supports team dynamics by assisting in the training of new employees and staying informed about ongoing promotions and events within the Casino. Though this job does not hold supervisory responsibilities, it plays a vital role in the overall success of the resort’s retail and beverage operations. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and ideally possess some experience in barista services or retail environments. Commitment to obtaining required certifications such as Washington State Food Handlers and MAST (Mandatory Alcohol Server Training) within specified timelines is mandatory.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Kalispel Tribal Work Permit
  • Washington State Food Handlers certification - must obtain within 14 days of start date
  • Hepatitis A vaccination
  • Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST) certification - must obtain within first 60 days of start date
  • Available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three months related experience and/or training preferred
  • Experience working as a barista is preferred
  • Ability to handle cash and give proper change
  • Excellent guest relations and guest service skills
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems under pressure
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to learn and retain information quickly
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Basic to intermediate computer literacy is a plus
  • Ability to follow directions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Commitment to providing superior guest service in accordance with Kalispel Hospitality
  • Maintain a smile and pleasant demeanor

Job Duties

  • Develops enthusiastically satisfied guests all of the time
  • Provides quality beverages consistently for all guests
  • Prepares beverages to standards
  • Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products and areas
  • Correctly perform all necessary paperwork and bookwork at shifts end
  • Available and willing to work any changes in hours deemed necessary for business levels
  • Straighten and organize inventory
  • Perform cleaning, set-up and breakdown duties as directed by management and position requirements
  • Ensure return merchandise is restocked to the correct product location on the sales/cafe floor
  • Execute efficient handling of all merchandise from shipment processing, floor sets, markdown optimization and replenishment systems
  • Proactively resolve guest concerns in accordance with Kalispel Hospitality
  • Ensure inventory control and protection of organizational assets
  • Promote sales and upgrading of items
  • Assist with training of new team members
  • Maintain organization of all Resort Retail spaces
  • Maintain a consistent, regular good attendance record
  • May be required to be a panelist for the Internal Review Hearings
