This non-exempt role involves hands-on food preparation including cooking breakfast items, vegetables, sides, and meats, as well as managing heat-and-eat varieties. A Market Grille Cook is expected to provide outstanding customer service, treating customers with care and respect, making a positive impact on their shopping experience. The role demands a strong teamwork attitude, the ability to follow food safety and sanitation protocols strictly, and readiness to maintain personal hygiene and dress guidelines. The Market Grille Cook reports to multiple leadership positions, including the District Store Director and Market Grille Department Manager, but typically does not oversee other staff members.\n\nThis position requires physical stamina and the ability to handle some lifting of heavy items as well as enduring fast-paced and dynamic work conditions including exposure to temperature variations, noise, and cleaning chemicals. The Market Grille Cook uses an array of kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and slicers to produce quality food efficiently. Dedicated to ensuring a clean and pleasant work environment, the cook also helps in inventory activities like ordering supplies when necessary and may assist in other store areas. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization and interpret instructions
- Ability to do simple addition and subtraction
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
- Ability to write identifying information and request supplies orally or in writing
- Physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly
- Visual ability including depth perception and color vision
- Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions

Job Duties
- Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
- Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner whether in the designated department or elsewhere in the store
- Makes an effort to learn customers’ names and to address them by name whenever possible
- Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, loading or unloading heavy items, passing along customer suggestions, enhancing the shopping experience
- Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
- Prepares cooking surfaces and all menu items including vegetables, sides, meats, and breakfast foods
- Places food in hot cases, monitors and refills as necessary
- Takes guests’ orders and prepares items for upcoming shifts
- Practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is clean and neat
- Maintains adherence to personal hygiene, dress guidelines, and company policies
- Reports to work on schedule and on time
- Orders product and supplies when necessary or notifies department manager of needs
- Assists in other store areas as needed
- Performs other job related duties and special projects as required
