This full-time, non-exempt position offers individuals the opportunity to engage in meaningful customer interactions while preparing a variety of menu items with quality and care. The Market Grille Cook is responsible for handling all aspects of food preparation, from cooking breakfast items, vegetables, sides, and meats to maintaining hot food cases and heat-and-eat products. Beyond cooking, the role emphasizes delivering superb customer service by greeting guests with warmth and attention, assisting with product queries, and creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages customer satisfaction and loyalty.\n\nEmployees in this role collaborate with multiple management levels, including the District Store Director and Food Service Manager, and work closely with fellow team members to deliver a seamless Market Grille experience. The position is physically engaging, requiring the ability to lift and move different weights and to operate various kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and slicers. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Up to six months of related work experience preferred
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
  • Ability to do simple math such as addition and subtraction
  • Availability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must adhere to company policies and scheduling
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience
  • Knowledge of proper sanitation procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment including grills, fryers, ovens and slicers
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Good communication skills

Job Duties

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store
  • Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the store
  • Makes an effort to learn customers’ names and to address them by name whenever possible
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach products, loading or unloading heavy items, noting and passing along customer suggestions and performing other tasks to enhance shopping experience
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service
  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
  • Prepares cooking surfaces and all menu items including vegetables, sides, meats and breakfast foods
  • Places food in hot cases, monitors amounts and refills as necessary
  • Takes guests’ orders and prepares items for upcoming shifts
  • Maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of the work area, adhering to company hygiene and dress guidelines
  • Reports to work on schedule and adheres to company policies
  • Provides direct customer service when necessary
  • Orders product and supplies or notifies manager of needs
  • Assists in other store areas as needed
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required
