The position of Market Development Manager: Distributor Sales – Alternative Beverage Alcohol (ABA) is a pivotal role within Sazerac's commercial team, focusing on the Texas market with its headquarters located in San Antonio, TX. This role entails fostering brand growth and expanding distribution channels for Sazerac's Alternative Beverage Alcohol portfolio, driving both volume and market share. The Market Development Manager is charged with elevating brand presence by executing strategic sales initiatives and managing relationships with distributors effectively. This includes leveraging key performance indicators and market data to optimize performance and guide sales strategy.
The Market Development Manager will also be responsible for retail execution and market intelligence, ensuring that ABA initiatives are implemented successfully within key accounts. This role involves continually gathering insights into consumer trends, competitor activities, and identifying emerging opportunities that can be capitalized on to maintain and grow market penetration. Effective communication and integration of new brand acquisitions into the retail environment are also crucial for this position.
Moreover, the role involves strategic pricing and budget management, with a focus on aligning pricing opportunities with brand positioning and managing budget spend to maximize brand contribution. Account management duties require developing and nurturing key relationships with accounts, ensuring outstanding retail execution through merchandising, promotions, and sales strategies. Challenges faced by customers must be proactively addressed to safeguard and extend brand visibility.
Long-term brand development is a critical focus, contributing to sustainable growth by partnering closely with distributor teams to enhance brand positioning and marketplace execution. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum 3 years of sales management experience in alcohol beverage industry or CPG
- Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours including nights and weekends
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness to travel in market as needed
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships
- Strong self-management skills with ability to effectively manage schedules and priorities to achieve results
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds without assistance
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum 3 years of sales management experience in alcohol beverage industry or CPG
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Experience in National Accounts or Key Account (on premise or off premise) preferred
- Background in sales analysis preferred
- Market development experience with beer wholesaler or supplier preferred
Job Duties
- Drive volume and distribution goals for priority ABA brands across Texas
- Utilize KPIs and brand reports to monitor market performance and execution standards
- Ensure execution of ABA initiatives within targeted key accounts
- Gather and report on consumer trends, competitive activity, and emerging market opportunities
- Identify and recommend strategic pricing opportunities aligned with brand positioning
- Manage market budgets, track spending, and optimize resource allocation
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts to drive brand visibility and sales
- Ensure top-tier retail execution through merchandising, promotions, and space-to-sales strategies
- Proactively resolve customer challenges to maximize brand presence
- Collaborate with distributor teams to enhance long-term brand development and market penetration
