CGB is currently seeking a driven individual interested in marine operations to join their team. The role focuses on managing product movement on waterways, providing excellent opportunities for career advancement and travel throughout the United States. This is a hands-on position where the individual will take ownership of day-to-day operations, learning leadership skills, and contributing to the financial decisions and safety initiatives within the company. The role is dynamic, presenting new challenges daily, and requires versatility as the individual may rotate through various departments and lead special projects.
The position fosters a strong involvement in fleet management, overseeing security and compliance with regulatory bodies such as the United States Coast Guard, while also collaborating on construction projects and capital budgeting efforts. The program is designed for approximately twelve to twenty-four months, during which time the candidate will develop a thorough understanding of operations management and receive guidance to assume strategic responsibilities. Physical capability to work in diverse environments including outdoor and confined spaces, and to travel up to 30 percent of the time, are also necessary. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, experience and/or training
- No prior experience required but preferred experience in river operations, logistics, and/or transportation
- Knowledge of or ability to learn stevedoring, barge, marine, and logistics
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Intermediate computer knowledge
- Strong problem solving and conflict management skills
- Leadership and management skills
- Ability to relocate within the United States after training completion
- Physical ability to perform medium work involving lifting up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and diverse environmental conditions
- Willingness to travel up to 30 percent
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, experience and/or training
- Preferred experience in river operations, logistics, and/or transportation
- Knowledge of stevedoring, barge, marine, and logistics or ability to learn
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Problem solving, conflict management, and negotiating skills
- Leadership and managerial abilities
- Ability to relocate throughout the United States upon completion of training
Job Duties
- Manage the company’s safety initiative by leading and enforcing the safety program at assigned location(s)
- Manage the operations for efficiency and profitability
- Utilize all Harbor Management aspects effectively including traffic entry, customer reports, and invoicing
- Assist with documentation related to vessel/fleet break away including notifications and claims processing
- Provide oversight of security and compliance staff to ensure adherence to company programs and regulations
- Participate in and manage business planning including forecasting and financial reporting
- Assist in project planning, capital budgeting, and funding requests
- Proactively manage fleet and maintenance operations addressing safety and efficiency
- Rotate through various departments as business needs dictate
- Perform other duties as assigned
