Point Defiance Marina, nestled in the heart of Point Defiance Park on the shores of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, is a historically significant boating community hub serving recreational boaters for over a century. The marina proudly accommodates nearly 300 tenants who dock their boats within its facility. It also features a convenience store, a tackle shop, and a souvenir outlet that cater to both boating enthusiasts and casual visitors. The establishment prides itself on fostering a vibrant atmosphere where the community can enjoy water-based activities and the scenic beauty of Puget Sound. The Point Defiance Marina seeks a Seasonal Customer Service Assistant to join their dynamic and supportive team. This role involves multifaceted duties contributing to the smooth operation and maintenance of the marina, including engaging directly with tenants and visitors. With a starting hourly wage of $17.13 and a range extending up to $17.62, this position offers up to 40 hours per week over a period of six months. The selected candidate will deliver exceptional customer service, complete retail sales transactions for boating and fishing equipment, fuel, bait, and boat rentals, and operate marine fuel pumps efficiently. Additional responsibilities include managing the boat lift system to launch and retrieve boats, processing tenant payments, selling Washington state fishing and hunting licenses, and maintaining an attractive, clean retail environment. The role demands a proactive attitude engaging patrons with valuable information and ensuring the overall safety and cleanliness of the marina’s facilities and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Availability to work up to 40 hours per week including early morning evening and weekend shifts
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds bending stretching walking sitting and standing for extended periods
  • Ability to use a computer and operate point of sale systems
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and handle dissatisfied or abusive individuals
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to maintain regular reliable and punctual attendance

Job Duties

  • Complete retail sales of boating and fishing equipment fuel bait boat rentals and gift items
