This role based in San Diego, California, is ideal for candidates who are precise, organized, and motivated individuals ready to take part in laboratory support and buffer preparation essential for scientific research and production. The position involves accurately preparing buffer solutions by mixing acids, bases, and chemicals meticulously and verifying their pH with specialized equipment. You will be responsible for handling hazardous materials safely, maintaining cleanliness and sterilization of lab glassware and plasticware using autoclaves and industrial washers, and adhering strictly to standard operating procedures. Your documentation skills will be crucial in maintaining accurate records related to buffer preparation processes.

Additional responsibilities may include supporting ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) production, assisting with routine animal care in vivarium settings, promoting workplace safety, and participating actively in environmental health and safety programs. As part of your duties, you will monitor hazards, suggest improvements, and ensure compliance with safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with 1-3 years of relevant experience in the life science industry preferred. Fluency in English, intermediate computer skills, including familiarity with SAP, and the ability to perform intermediate math calculations are key. Experience with ELISA plate production and animal husbandry will be considered strong assets. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational capabilities, and the ability to work both independently and within a team are fundamental to success in this role.

This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $25.00 to $40.00 USD, reflecting the candidate's skills and experience. Job Duties

  • Accurately prepare buffer solutions by mixing acids, bases, and other chemicals in precise proportions
  • Use pH meters and other equipment to adjust and verify the pH of buffer solutions
  • Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials safely
  • Routine cleaning, drying, and autoclaving of all laboratory glassware and plasticware
  • Safely follows all established standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Operate glassware washers, dryers, and autoclaves for washing, drying and sterilizing lab glassware and plasticware
  • Clean glass wash facility walls, floors, ceilings, counters, sinks, and vents
  • Track inventory of plasticware and request stock when necessary
  • May support ELISA production including plates, standards/kits, crimping and sealing
  • Maintain accurate records of buffer preparation processes including batch records and SOPs
  • May provide support for animal care including feeding, cleaning enclosures, enrichment, and health monitoring
  • Promote a safe work environment by participating in EHS programs and addressing hazards
  • Perform other responsibilities or projects as assigned by supervisor
