Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific is a global leader in scientific research and innovation, dedicated to improving the health and safety of people around the world. With a strong commitment to advancing science and technology, Thermo Fisher offers cutting-edge solutions that enable breakthroughs in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and various other industries. The Lenexa, Kansas facility is an integral part of this worldwide network, focusing on manufacturing excellence and quality assurance to deliver world-class products. Known for fostering a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and safety, Thermo Fisher Scientific provides employees with opportunities to grow both professionally and personally within a dynamic and supportive environment.

Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently seeking motivated Manufacturing Operators I and II, as well as Material Handlers, to join their team at the Lenexa location. This hiring initiative is designed to attract local talent and provide a comprehensive introduction to the company through an on-site hiring event held on July 24 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This event offers potential candidates more than just an interview. Attendees will have the chance to meet hiring managers, tour the manufacturing facility, learn about the team dynamics and company culture, explore various career development paths, and participate in on-site interviews. The roles available are full-time day shift positions, with pay ranging from $15.25 to $22.88 per hour based on experience, offering competitive compensation and an array of benefits.

As a Manufacturing Operator or Material Handler at Thermo Fisher Scientific, employees are expected to follow all written procedures such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Device History Records (DHRs), report any discrepancies to supervisors, and consistently use personal protective equipment to maintain a safe working environment. Responsibilities include performing work activities safely, maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area, efficiently operating machinery, conducting quality inspections, performing routine equipment maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement efforts. The work environment demands adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and includes exposure to varied conditions such as cleanroom standards, cold rooms, and warehouse settings. These roles require a hands-on approach, physical endurance to lift weights up to 50 pounds, and the ability to communicate effectively in English.

Thermo Fisher Scientific values education and experience, requiring at minimum a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for candidates who have 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing or regulated environments. Experience in aseptic conditions, particularly within medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing, is considered an advantage. The company also emphasizes the importance of safety, quality control, and teamwork while encouraging employee suggestions to enhance production processes.

In addition to competitive pay and rewarding work, Thermo Fisher offers a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance effective from the first day of employment, paid time off including 120 hours annually plus designated holidays, a 401(k) plan with up to 6% company match, tuition reimbursement after 90 days, employee referral bonuses, and parental leave. These comprehensive benefits reflect Thermo Fisher Scientific’s commitment to supporting the health, well-being, and growth of its employees. Prospective candidates are encouraged to apply ahead of the event to secure a scheduled interview and receive detailed event information, though walk-ins are also welcome. Join Thermo Fisher Scientific in Lenexa and take the next step in a fulfilling manufacturing career with a company that puts innovation and people first.
