Job Description

Corning Incorporated is a global leader renowned for its groundbreaking innovation in glass, ceramic, and materials science technologies. Established with a legacy of over 170 years, Corning is recognized for its commitment to pushing the limits of what is possible—from the depths of the ocean to the farthest reaches of space. The company’s technologies play a critical role across multiple industries, including telecommunications, automotive, consumer electronics, and healthcare, making a significant impact by connecting people through advanced optical communications, transforming entertainment at home, enabling cutting-edge automobile technology, and supporting the delivery of lifesaving medicines. Corning's culture fosters creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement, underpinned by a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, making it a premier employer that encourages its workforce to innovate and solve complex challenges daily.

This particular opportunity is with Corning’s Optical Communications segment, which supplies industry-leading optical solutions for carrier and enterprise network markets worldwide. The segment develops optical fiber, cables, hardware, and equipment that enable vital communication infrastructure used for video, data, and voice services. Corning is seeking a highly skilled UV Coatings Expert to join this dynamic team. This role is centered on advancing the quality and cost-efficiency of UV curable materials utilized in the manufacturing of optical fiber and cable products. The successful candidate will engage in developing performance monitoring tools, performing data analysis, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This hands-on, technically rich position is perfect for a polymer chemist or chemical engineer with a strong background in UV curable materials, manufacturing process understanding, and quality control systems.

As a UV Coatings Expert at Corning, you will be responsible for creating and optimizing analytical methods to monitor coating batch performance, correlating variability in coating processes with fiber quality attributes, and spearheading efforts that enhance product performance and reduce costs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including coating manufacturers and suppliers, to maintain a secure supply chain and support supplier qualification activities. This role requires strong project management skills, analytical acumen, and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively across organizational levels. You will also lead root cause investigations into quality issues and champion strategic projects that align with business priorities.

Corning offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports employee health, financial security, and professional growth from day one. The role is full-time, exempt status, with a salary range of $95,042 to $130,683 depending on factors such as geographic location, experience, and education. The position involves a Monday to Friday schedule with occasional overtime and requires less than 25 percent travel both domestically and internationally. Corning is committed to diversity and equal opportunity employment, prohibiting discrimination and providing reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities or sincerely held religious beliefs. Join Corning and be part of a company where your innovations help shape the future of critical communication technologies on a global scale.
