Job Description

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is a 100% employee-owned engineering services and solutions company that has been providing specialized technical expertise since 1993. With a strong focus on national defense and security, MTSI delivers critical capabilities in areas such as Digital Transformation, Modeling and Simulation, Rapid Capability Development, Test and Evaluation, Artificial Intelligence, Autonomy, Cybersecurity, and Mission Assurance. The company operates across over 20 offices and field sites worldwide, continuously growing every year and maintaining a solid track record of success. MTSI’s culture revolves around its core values, with employees coming first and being rewarded with some of the best benefits in the industry. This employee-owned company fosters a collaborative work environment where everyone has a stake in the success of their peers and customers. Employees have regular company-wide town hall meetings, emphasizing transparency and community.

The M&S Event Mission Manager (EMM) at MTSI plays a vital role in supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Directorate Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Office. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing test events in an advanced, distributed Hardware-In-the-Loop (HWIL) simulation environment. The focus is on testing the Missile Defense System (MDS) during Ground Test (GT) events and providing Flight Test support, which includes mission execution team training, pre-mission risk reduction, and post-flight reconstruction. The role also extends to providing M&S development and support for other Department of Defense (DoD) partners, demonstrating the breadth of impact this position holds within national defense test environments.

This role demands a candidate with strong coordination and communication skills, adept at managing multiple technical activities simultaneously. The EMM acts as a liaison among numerous teams, including M&S software developers, product integration, analysis, test teams, infrastructure, MDA Elements, and other MDS participants. Strategic planning support is essential for test events and risk reduction activities, ensuring all stakeholders’ requirements are met. The EMM maintains management awareness regarding planning activities and issues related to system development and testing, actively contributing to working group meetings, peer reviews, and technical interchange forums to present findings.

Key responsibilities include providing project management support by developing and delivering reports that guide leadership decisions on cost, schedule, risk, and performance. Coordination and resource allocation across simulation software development and test schedules fall under this role’s purview. The Event Mission Manager collaborates closely with systems engineering and multiple cross-functional teams to identify critical engineering criteria to be demonstrated during risk reduction activities. Communicating clear and effective status updates to stakeholders is crucial, along with consolidating and tracking M&S issues until their resolution. Furthermore, this role offers recommendations concerning risk management, identifies potential risks related to events and activities, and helps develop and monitor mitigation strategies.

Ideal candidates bring experience working within MDA Ground Test environments and a comprehensive understanding of the overall MDS infrastructure and participant capabilities, including government agency coordination. Leadership experience during integrated system test events and familiarity with real-time distributed simulation infrastructures contribute to success in this role. While Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desired, it is not a mandatory requirement. Additionally, knowledge of cloud testing principles and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in test and evaluation environments is a plus. The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus an active Final SECRET security clearance with eligibility to maintain it, and proficiency with MS Office Suite. Travel up to 25% and occasional night or weekend work are expected to support mission-critical testing events.

This role is based on-site in Huntsville, AL, at Redstone Arsenal, offering highly competitive perks such as 20 days of paid time off (PTO) accrued annually plus 10 holidays, zero deductible health insurance plans, flexible work schedules, up to $10,000 in annual education and training reimbursement, a funded Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), a 6% 401(k) match with immediate vesting, semi-annual bonus opportunities, career mentorship programs, and more. MTSI’s commitment to its employees and adherence to equal opportunity employment policies makes it an excellent employer for engineers and project managers motivated to contribute to national defense missions while achieving personal and professional growth.
