The Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration & Finance is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of overseeing contracted dining, catering, vending, bookstore operations, and the Event Services Department at UMass Boston. This full-time, staff position offers a competitive salary range of approximately $117,900 to $188,600, aligned with pay grade 19. As a key member of the administration, the successful candidate will work under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor and lead efforts to integrate and coordinate various vendor services to ensure alignment with the campus mission and strategic goals.
This leadership role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional management skills, capable of administering contracts for residential and retail dining, catering, vending, and bookstore services. Additionally, the role includes direct oversight of the university's Event Services department, which supports a wide array of campus events for enrollment, advancement, academic purposes, and community engagement. The incumbent will oversee vendor compliance, maintain high standards of quality, and plan the continual enhancement of service delivery and campus spaces. Responsibilities include managing vendor relationships, coordinating with internal departments such as Facilities and Marketing, overseeing financial transactions related to vendor services, and leading the development of innovative service offerings to expand business opportunities.
The role requires effective collaboration with various campus stakeholders and vendors to activate physical spaces and enhance the quality and availability of food, academic materials, and merchandise. - Associate's degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or related field with 20 years related experience including 5 years management, or Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Accounting, Business, Management, Economics or related field with 15 years related experience including 5 years management
- experience managing large contracts for critical operational or auxiliary services
- experience with food cleanliness, fire, and safety regulations
- strong analytical and reporting skills
- experience in higher education, government, or regulated/unionized business environment
- strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- experience presenting to executive-level managers and staff
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based scheduling, ordering, and payment applications
- ability to manage multiple complex projects and meet deadlines

Job Duties
- Manage vendor contracts related to residential and retail dining including catering and vending
- ensure vendor compliance with contracted terms and conditions
- maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, and affordability in dining programs
- expand dining business through additional plans, venues, events, and partnerships
- plan and oversee refresh of dining concepts and spaces
- collaborate with vendor, residence hall operators, and internal departments on dining issues
- review and approve management fee data and reports
- evaluate vendor contract extensions or lead competitive bid processes
- oversee management of residential meal plan office and vendor catering accounts receivable
- manage vendor contract for university bookstore
- ensure vendor compliance with bookstore contract terms
- collaborate with marketing and student affairs on merchandising and student needs
- expand digital student classroom materials availability
- plan and oversee bookstore concept and space refresh
- manage Event Services department supporting campus events
- develop and implement workflows to consolidate campus event scheduling
- improve business processes with updated software
- develop and implement campus events marketing strategies
- manage financial operations staff and Event Services Director
- perform other duties assigned by Associate Vice Chancellor
