The role of Managing Director at The Laylow is a senior leadership position responsible for the overall success and operation of the property. This role is pivotal in ensuring guest satisfaction, maintaining financial health, developing a high-performing team, and upholding brand standards. The Managing Director will lead strategic planning, budgeting, and financial oversight to drive profitability and operational efficiency. They will work closely with marketing, revenue management, and sales teams to maximize the property’s market presence and brand alignment.

Daily responsibilities include overseeing hotel operations to ensure consistent service delivery, safety, cleanliness, and quality, as well as conducting regular property inspections to comply with health and safety regulations. The Managing Director champions a guest-first culture by promptly addressing service issues and enhancing overall guest experience. Financial acumen is essential for monitoring performance, managing costs, analyzing profit and loss statements, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.

Leadership is a key component of this role, requiring the ability to recruit, train, and develop talent while fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture. Collaboration with the People and Culture team and acting as a liaison between the property and corporate teams are also critical to align strategic objectives and drive business results. The Managing Director promotes teamwork and a supportive work environment in partnership with other senior leaders.

This position demands a hands-on leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills, proficient in hotel management systems such as Opera or similar PMS platforms. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, and the physical ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds are required. Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a General Manager in hotel management
  • bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or related field
  • proficiency with hotel PMS systems like Opera
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to analyze financial statements and manage budgets
  • flexible availability including nights and weekends
  • physical ability to stand, walk, sit for long periods, and lift up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in hospitality management or a related field
  • 5+ years as a General Manager, ideally in luxury lifestyle environments
  • proven track record of performance, team development, and career progression
  • strong operational and financial acumen
