Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor committed to delivering innovative solutions and exceptional service to the food industry across the United States. With a rich history of providing high-quality products and reliable distribution, US Foods supports a wide range of clients including restaurants, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. The company continuously invests in its workforce and technology to improve efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. This position is part of US Foods' Transportation department, a critical operation that ensures timely and accurate deliveries while maintaining a high standard of safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.

The role of Transportation Supervisor at US Foods is pivotal in overseeing and managing the team of drivers and transportation associates. With a strong emphasis on safety, the supervisor will lead initiatives to create and maintain a culture that prioritizes the well-being of associates and customers alike. The individual in this role will be responsible for coaching, training, and developing the transportation workforce to meet performance and safety objectives. Leadership extends beyond oversight by fostering an environment that encourages communication, drives employee engagement, and aligns with the company’s values.

This supervisory position requires a hands-on approach to managing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other relevant standards such as OSHA. The role includes monitoring production goals, troubleshooting delivery challenges, and improving processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. The supervisor will also oversee driver qualification files, conduct accident investigations, and enforce corrective measures to prevent future incidents.

Additionally, the Transportation Supervisor will collaborate closely with senior management and other departments within US Foods to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction. The responsibility includes participating in hiring processes, conducting performance reviews, and taking necessary disciplinary actions to maintain a high-performing team. Given the nature of the work, some travel is required to attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.

Physically, the role demands the ability to perform a variety of activities such as driving trucks, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying items of varying weights. It requires a balance of office-based work involving data analysis and planning with hands-on presence on the road and in the warehouse environment. This dynamic position is suitable for candidates who possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of transportation operations, and a commitment to safety and service excellence.

Candidates for this position should have a minimum of three years of experience in transportation, delivery, or warehouse distribution, along with at least one year of supervisory experience. Experience as a driver is considered an advantage. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a preference for candidates holding a college degree. The role offers competitive compensation and may include incentive pay based on performance.

Benefits for this role include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance. US Foods is dedicated to providing a supportive work environment that fosters professional growth and employee well-being.
