The Transportation Supervisor role at US Foods is a crucial leadership position within the Transportation department. Job Requirements
- Minimum of three years experience in transportation or warehouse distribution
- Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory role
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to spend time on road and in office environments
- Must be able to perform occasional physical activities including lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs
- Willingness to travel up to 10 percent for meetings and training
- CDL preferred
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum of three years experience in transportation or distribution
- Minimum of one year experience overseeing staff
- Experience as a driver a plus
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation methods
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
Job Duties
- Lead with a safety mindset ensuring injury-free environment for associates and customers
- Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through coaching and training
- Discuss performance with senior managers and create improvement plans
- Encourage upward communication and motivate team to meet objectives
- Supervise work and productivity of drivers and clerical staff
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, performance reviews and disciplinary actions
- Monitor production goals and troubleshoot delivery problems
- Identify and reduce waste while improving processes
- Conduct routine safety and driver meetings
- Oversee maintenance of driver qualification files
- Investigate accidents and take preventative action
- Schedule shifts using planning tools
- Perform other duties as assigned
