The Manager Structural Design role plays a pivotal part within Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co., responsible for leading the structural design team in researching, planning, and developing structural products and systems tailored to meet precise engineering and cost specifications. This role commands oversight over key design activities including welded fabrications, castings, and machined part development. The manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget, guaranteeing that designs adhere to customer requirements and technical standards. Supervisory duties include managing a team of 4 to 6 employees, conducting hiring, training, performance appraisals, and fostering teamwork with other departments to drive project success. This position involves both strategic coordination and hands-on technical input, offering a unique opportunity to influence product innovation that supports Liebherr's industry-leading mining equipment and machinery.

In this role, the Manager Structural Design will coordinate with cross-functional teams, supporting fabrication, installation, operation, and repair activities to maintain design integrity and optimize equipment utility. The candidate will be expected to handle high-level technical decisions and project planning while adhering to company policies and regulatory standards. Liebherr offers a competitive salary range from $157,000 to $188,000 alongside comprehensive benefits such as major medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401K plan with company match, paid vacation, and personal days. The position includes up to 20 percent domestic and international travel and requires the ability to maintain certifications such as the Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) certification.
