Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently seeking an Engineering Manager 2 - Structural Analysis to join the Vehicle Engineering (VE) organization at its Palmdale, CA facility. This position is categorized as a 3/10 (Friday through Sunday) first shift schedule role, offering a unique work pattern that provides extended time off during the week. The Engineering Manager 2 will report directly to the VE Department Manager and will have both people and technical leadership responsibilities within the structural analysis team.

In this critical role, the engineering manager will lead a team of structural analysis engineers responsible for evaluating the structural integrity of both composite and metallic aircraft structures. The manager will ensure that all structural analysis activities meet customer requirements, program milestones, and budget constraints by providing strategic oversight and ensuring adherence to quality standards. Key responsibilities include managing staffing needs such as reviewing resumes and conducting interviews, providing technical guidance for analysis packages, and acting as the primary liaison for structural analysis reviews and communication with customers and program leadership.

This position requires a proactive leader who possesses deep expertise in stress and structural analysis, particularly in military or government aircraft projects, and demonstrated experience in a management or technical leadership capacity. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities, ensuring continuous process improvement and resolution of structural performance challenges.

This role requires an active US Government Secret clearance or higher, with eligibility to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance before employment begins. The salary range for this position is $161,100 to $241,700 annually, with additional opportunities for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives for qualified individuals. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 9 years of related engineering experience or a master’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline with 7 years of related engineering experience
  • minimum 6 years of applicable stress/structural analysis experience working on military or government aircraft projects
  • experience in a technical leadership or management role
  • must have an active US Government Secret or higher clearance with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation
  • must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program clearance prior to employment
