Known for its dedication to top-tier medical care, education, and community health improvement, the organization prides itself on the skills, experience, and compassion of its employees. As an institution, St. Luke's continually strives to meet and exceed the needs of its patients, regardless of their financial capabilities, by fostering a culture of service, innovation, and teamwork. The organization supports the professional growth of its staff, recognizing them as its most valuable asset and the driving force behind its mission to care for the sick and injured, educate healthcare providers, and increase access to care.
Within this esteemed network, the role of Manager for the SportsPlex and Pickleball Lehigh Valley (PLV) Member Operations emerges as a critical leadership position. This role is entrusted with the comprehensive development, implementation, and management of all facets related to the PLV operations, including programming and personnel management, as well as overseeing the physical plant, facility operations, and the daily functioning of the St. Luke's SportsPlex. This position requires a dynamic and experienced individual capable of driving innovative sports programming, operational efficiency, and member engagement in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.
The Manager is charged with spearheading pickleball and multi-use programming, ranging from open play sessions and contract court time to leagues, tournaments, clinics, and special events. They will demonstrate expertise in utilizing management platforms like Court Reserve to streamline scheduling, utilization, and reporting functions. A significant component of the role involves conducting proactive facility audits to maximize asset use and identifying opportunities to generate additional revenue through inventive programming adjustments.
An essential part of the Manager's responsibilities is to act as an on-site ambassador for PLV and the SportsPlex, fostering strong relationships with members, guests, and partners to ensure an excellent customer experience. This includes managing inquiries and front desk operations to facilitate seamless member onboarding. The Manager also works closely with marketing teams and community partners to elevate the SportsPlex's visibility and participation levels through events and outreach.
Collaboration is key in managing leagues, instructors, and certified coaches to build a diverse and inclusive network supporting racquet sports and fitness initiatives. The Manager oversees maintenance and inventory coordination with vendors and ensures the facility meets safety and cleanliness standards. They also lead staff management functions, including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and performance evaluation, aligning team efforts with organizational values and service excellence.
Success in this role demands not only operational savvy but also a passion for sport and community engagement. The Manager must navigate multiple priorities with agility, communicate effectively across all levels, and embody the mission and vision of St. Luke's. Physical requirements include endurance for standing and active involvement in sports-related activities, and a valid driver's license is necessary for facility and event-related travel.
Educationally, candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in management, human services, or a related field, or possess equivalent professional experience combined with extensive pickleball expertise and coaching success. A minimum of two years in management, preferably with background in business operations, facility oversight, program development, and financial administration, is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and booking systems like Court Reserve, along with exceptional communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, are required to thrive in this vibrant and rewarding role. This opportunity offers individuals a chance to lead in a respected organization dedicated to health, wellness, and community service, making a tangible difference in people's lives through sports programming and facility management.
