Job Description
The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) is an iconic global leader in entertainment and technology, renowned for its dedication to storytelling and creating unforgettable experiences. With ventures spanning theme parks, resorts, a cruise line, sports, news, movies, and many other business domains, Disney continuously innovates to captivate audiences worldwide. Founded on Walt Disney's passion for envisioning new ways to move audiences, the company remains committed to delivering magical and immersive experiences that leave a lasting impact. Disney's Enterprise Technology group plays a pivotal role in enabling this vision by providing technology solutions aligned with business strategies that boost operational excellence, foster enterprise efficiency, and promote cross-company collaborative innovations.
Within this dynamic environment, the Manager of Software Engineering leads the front-end and back-end Moveworks solution engineering team under the umbrella of HR Products. This team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the platforms that serve Employee Services for more than 200,000 Walt Disney Company employees globally. The role entails owning the delivery of engineering projects, platform support, and technical execution specifically for the Moveworks platform. As a leader in this capacity, you will manage a diverse team of 4-6 Solution and Software Engineers, alongside overseeing offshore and near-shore managed service teams that provide day-to-day platform support, ensuring high efficiency and quality.
This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Software Engineering and demands a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), a demonstrated history of designing and launching scalable solutions, and a genuine dedication to nurturing and growing engineering talent. The Manager will be responsible for setting strategic engineering direction, managing operational excellence, and driving innovation on one of the company's critical employee service platforms. Moreover, this role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Designers, and Architects to align engineering roadmaps with business goals and customer-centric enhancements.
Success in this role is defined by the ability to maintain high availability of Moveworks, ensure managed service teams perform within defined service level agreements (SLAs), cultivate clear career development pathways for engineers, and deliver impactful platform initiatives that significantly improve employee experience. As part of Disney's larger technology mission, this role contributes directly to advancing competitive advantage and operational excellence through technology, while supporting the company’s global workforce in effective and efficient ways. The role offers a competitive salary range depending on the geographic location, with Orlando, Florida offering between $163,400 and $219,100 per year; Burbank, California between $171,600 and $230,100; and Seattle, Washington between $179,700 and $241,000. In addition to base pay, compensation may include bonuses or long-term incentive units as well as a comprehensive benefits package encompassing medical, financial, and other employee benefits.
