The Manager of Show Site Operations is a crucial leadership role within The Freeman Company’s Audio Visual and Event Technology team. This position is responsible for overseeing activities within a designated geographic region—specifically from offices in Dallas, Texas, or Austin, Texas. The manager acts as a key regional representative, ensuring that event operations run smoothly, efficiently, and profitably in accordance with Freeman’s standards. The role supports event planning and execution by coordinating efforts across a broad team that includes regional staff, clients, sales personnel, project managers, venue staff, and union representatives. It involves managing the logistics of pre-production, onsite activities, and post-production processes to meet budgetary goals and high-quality service delivery. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring presence in-office or on show sites approximately two to three days per week.

This managerial role requires a hands-on leader who is adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, capable of addressing operational challenges proactively, and skilled at fostering a collaborative and positive team environment. Ensuring compliance with company guidelines on safety, operational procedures, and client satisfaction standards is a fundamental part of the job. The Manager of Show Site Operations also undertakes responsibilities such as budget review, vendor management, staff hiring, coaching, and evaluation, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date venue and operational information for the assigned region. This role demands experience in event technology systems including audio, lighting, video, and set design, as well as strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. With up to 25% travel requirements, this position is designed for candidates eager to contribute to a high-performing team within one of the event industry's most respected and established companies.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant work experience required
  • Four years on site event management experience
  • Four years of supervisory or management experience
  • Wide knowledge base in audio, lighting, video, and set systems
  • Must effectively manage time and resources
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent customer service skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Work closely with regional team, clients, sales staff, cross-functional leaders, and project managers to develop event plans including coordinating pre-production, onsite, and post-production activities in line with event budget
  • Act as Freeman representative in the region to stakeholders such as facilities, union leadership, vendors, and Freeman Expo branch
  • Track production activities in the region to ensure planning milestones and resource allocation goals are met, develop and deliver progress reports as needed
  • Work with functional heads to ensure hiring, staffing, discipline, and training are accomplished
  • Oversee and execute production budget and bid reviews, assist with final invoice reviews as needed
  • Visit and audit events in the region to ensure production, safety, and customer service standards are met
  • Participate in hiring, firing, training, coaching, and reviewing all members of show site operations
  • Coordinate between show-site and warehouse operations to ensure quality of service and build efficiencies and teamwork
  • Create, follow, and enforce company guidelines relating to policy, show site operations, and safety
  • Serve as regional resource on venue information including load in and load out paths, venue exclusives, and work rules
  • Review and update facility profiles for assigned facilities
  • Ensure all relevant operational and execution information for the region is accurate and up to date
  • Assist with local venue site surveys as needed for proper event planning
  • Review operational procedures and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, service delivery, and safety protocols
  • Assist warehouse personnel in determining quality and usefulness of equipment
  • Review and approve Coupa purchase orders and invoices to ensure accuracy and cost-saving strategies
  • Develop and foster a positive, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Perform other duties as assigned
