Operating on a global scale, XPO delivers innovative logistics and transportation solutions to a diverse range of industries, ensuring efficient and reliable service. The company is dedicated to fostering a dynamic work environment where employees are encouraged to grow professionally and contribute to the company’s long-term success. XPO values effective communication, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence, making it an ideal place for individuals who thrive on challenge and meaningful work.

The role of Shop Manager at XPO is a pivotal position within the company’s maintenance and operations team. This full-time role involves overseeing the day-to-day management of a fleet maintenance shop, ensuring that equipment is maintained to the highest standards and operational efficiency is optimized. The Shop Manager is responsible for supervising maintenance employees and contingent workers, managing schedules, mentoring staff, and facilitating hiring or disciplinary actions when necessary. This leadership role requires a hands-on approach in monitoring shop performance across various metrics, including safety, service quality, financial controls, and maintenance compliance.

The Shop Manager also plays a critical role in coordinating maintenance activities at various outlying Service Centers, supporting equipment uptime, and overseeing inventory and parts utilization to maximize productivity. A typical workday includes managing work orders, ensuring timely completion, and maintaining safety protocols and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. It is essential for the Shop Manager to promote a culture of safety and efficiency while motivating their team to meet or exceed company standards.

This position offers a competitive compensation package, including full health insurance benefits available from day one, life and disability insurance, and up to 15 days of paid time off during the first year. Additionally, the role includes 9 paid company holidays, a 401(k) retirement savings option with company matching contributions, education assistance, and opportunities to participate in company incentive plans. These benefits highlight XPO’s commitment to employee well-being and career development.

Candidates suitable for this role will have a minimum of five years’ experience in fleet maintenance and a valid driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s degree, current ASE certifications, CDL license, and experience in less-than-truckload (LTL) operations. The ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills, is critical. Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate staff, combined with excellent time management abilities, are necessary to succeed in this role.

The physical demands of the job include frequently lifting weights up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting over 75 pounds. The Shop Manager must be able to walk and stand for extended periods in non-climate-controlled, potentially slippery environments such as loading docks and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Duties also require reaching, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, and kneeling.

XPO is proud to be an Equal Opportunity employer, providing fair consideration for all qualified applicants without regard to race, sex, disability, veteran status, or other protected classifications. Those offered employment may be required to pass a pre-employment drug test. Join XPO and be part of a forward-thinking company that values your contributions and supports your professional growth.
