This opportunity at Neiman Marcus is for the role of Restaurant Manager / Chef located in Beverly Hills, California. This role serves as a key leadership position responsible for upholding the reputation and operational excellence of the restaurant within the Neiman Marcus store. The Restaurant Manager / Chef will lead and develop a professional culinary team to drive exceptional guest experiences by delivering high-quality food and outstanding customer service. This is a position that blends culinary expertise with strategic management, focusing on everything from daily food inventory control, sanitation standards compliance, to menu creation and catering for special events. The role requires close collaboration with front-of-house staff to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests while maintaining meticulous attention to detail in all kitchen operations. The Restaurant Manager / Chef is entrusted with executing corporate purchasing contracts, managing food costs, pricing menus appropriately, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. They are also responsible for associate development including training, coaching, conflict resolution, and maintaining a professional work environment.

This is a full-time onsite position offering a competitive salary range between $100,000 and $120,000, dependent on experience and qualifications. Job Duties

  • Monitor and document daily food inventories to minimize waste and maintain proper food costs
  • Maintain proficiency for all kitchen roles to provide support as needed
  • Ensure compliance with health and sanitation standards according to NMG, local, federal, and third-party auditors
  • Inspect each cook's station daily to ensure meal preparation readiness
  • Oversee cleanliness and quality across all dining rooms and kitchens
  • Manage adherence to health and safety standards in all work areas
  • Drive achievement of 90% or higher on seasonal shop reports and sanitation evaluations
  • Maintain and update recipe book daily with specials and menu items
  • Collaborate with front waitstaff to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Create and execute daily specials, teaching stations as required
  • Expedite all plates leaving the kitchen maintaining quality and timing
  • Analyze POS reports to monitor restaurant success and financial performance
  • Manage inventory amounts, batch invoices, and forecast month-end financials
  • Coordinate food and supplies ordering per corporate purchasing contracts
  • Monitor and control daily food costs to meet budgeted percentages
  • Maintain plating standards for all dishes served
  • Train kitchen staff or delegate training responsibilities
  • Partner with HR for coaching and counseling kitchen associates
  • Support catering needs and special events with supervisor
  • Foster a professional and courteous environment in all dining rooms
  • Oversee front dining room procedures to optimize efficiency
  • Plan and execute or support restaurant special promotions and events
  • Maintain professional kitchen environment including uniform upkeep and employee relations
  • Execute food and supplies orders following corporate contracts
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with restaurant vendors
  • Keep menus current through research and knowledge enhancement
  • Oversee menu pricing to maintain profitability percentages
  • Enforce Neiman Marcus policies and procedures
  • Coach and counsel direct reports effectively
  • Oversee daily tasks and performance of restaurant associates
  • Provide feedback, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
  • Work with Human Resources on associate-related matters regarding training, payroll, and benefits
  • Communicate daily with restaurant management team on scheduling, profit and loss, events, and employee concerns
  • Maintain effective communication with culinary team and dish crew
  • Partner with Regional Director of Restaurants to ensure smooth operations
  • Provide updates in weekly department manager meetings
  • Relay pertinent information to other department managers and restaurant staff
