Job Description
Capital One Financial Corporation is a renowned financial services organization headquartered in the United States, recognized for its commitment to innovating the way customers manage their financial health. With a strong presence across numerous states, including a significant footprint in Virginia, Capital One is dedicated to providing accessible financial products and services that empower individuals and communities to achieve greater financial confidence and wellness. The company embraces a culture of innovation, customer-centricity, and operational excellence, making it an employer of choice in the financial industry. Capital One offers a variety of roles that combine technology, creativity, and strategy, ensuring that employees are engaged in meaningful work that impacts millions of customers nationally. This dedication extends to the creation of innovative customer experiences, aligning with their mission to reduce financial anxiety and build trust in the brand through effective engagement.
The role of Manager, Project Manager - Experiential Programming & Content Designer at Capital One emerges as a critical leadership position in the Market Programming pillar of the Signature Experiences team. This is a hybrid role based in either McLean, VA or Richmond, VA, combining elements of creative strategy, experiential design, and operational management to architect the in-Café Money & Life financial health experiences. As the creative architect, the manager is responsible for translating complex financial health strategies into actionable, tangible customer engagements that resonate with diverse audiences.
The successful candidate will blend creative copywriting skills with strategic acumen to design modular, tactile, and gamified interactions that simplify highly regulated financial concepts into accessible and engaging moments. These experiences aim to convert customer vulnerability into financial confidence by making financial education interactive and digestible in an in-person environment. Beyond ideation, this role demands operational discipline to create scalable toolkits that support a coast-to-coast network of Café Ambassadors delivering a consistent brand and educational experience in over 65 cafés nationwide.
Key responsibilities include crafting creative strategies rooted in Capital One’s Financial Health Framework, designing physical customer journeys that spark curiosity and integrate seamlessly with Capital One’s product offerings. The manager will continuously innovate these experiential programs, building structured and repeatable Money & Life programming that is adaptable to various physical spaces and customer needs. Program management is a significant aspect, involving the development and optimization of tiered experiential event offerings such as closed-door events, pop-in activations, scheduled programs, and light interactions that provide quick, high-impact touchpoints.
The role requires a customer-centric mindset with a deep focus on reducing financial anxiety and improving consumer confidence. Collaboration skills are paramount, as the manager must balance brand strategy, creative design, operational execution, and compliance requirements to maintain the integrity and effectiveness of these programs. The iterative improvement based on qualitative and quantitative data ensures the programs evolve to meet customer expectations and business objectives.
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree or military experience, combined with at least three years in retail UX/UI, experiential programming, environmental design, or educational curriculum development, and at least two years of consumer-facing copywriting experience in financial services, technology, or similarly regulated industries. Preferred qualifications include over five years in experiential content design, a proven track record of designing scalable campaigns or educational toolkits, familiarity with regulatory constraints of financial services, and proficiency in digital design and advanced project management tools.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary range depending on the location: $151,900 to $173,400 in McLean, VA, and $138,100 to $157,700 in Richmond, VA, along with performance-based incentive compensation. Capital One supports a comprehensive benefits package aimed at total well-being and promotes an inclusive, equitable workplace environment. The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to non-discrimination and provides accommodations for applicants with disabilities or special needs upon request. This role highlights Capital One’s ongoing commitment to delivering world-class customer experiences through innovative and thoughtfully designed financial education programs in a physical setting, making it a unique and gratifying opportunity for experienced creative strategists and experiential designers.
