Job Description

The City of Shoreview is a vibrant and community-focused local government entity dedicated to providing exceptional recreational and community services to its residents. Located in Minnesota, the City of Shoreview prides itself on maintaining high-quality public facilities and programs that enhance the quality of life for its diverse population. Among its many offerings is the Shoreview Community Center, a bustling hub of activity that attracts over 500,000 visitors annually. This dynamic center features extensive amenities including banquet and meeting rooms, a fireside lounge reception area, a gymnasium, fitness studios, a running and walking track, a fitness center, an indoor water park, a child care center, and locker rooms. The center supports an extensive range of classes and programs coordinated by the Parks & Recreation Department, underscoring the city's commitment to promoting health, wellness, and community engagement.

The Manager on Duty (MOD) position at the Shoreview Community Center is a part-time role designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, customer-oriented environments. This position requires managing evening events during select Friday and Saturday nights, typically from approximately 7:30 pm to 2:00 am, with hours dependent on facility rentals and event schedules. The MOD is essential in ensuring that facility operations run smoothly after hours, providing front-line leadership and support. Responsibilities include overseeing event setup, maintaining excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving concerns promptly, and enforcing facility rules to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons. The role demands strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask as the MOD supervises various areas of the community center, coordinates with staff and vendors, and responds to operational needs during events.

This position is physically demanding, requiring prolonged standing and walking, and involves lifting or moving materials up to 50 pounds. The MOD must be comfortable working in an active environment with loud music and crowds, demonstrating flexibility and professionalism during busy event times. The City of Shoreview values diversity and inclusion and provides reasonable accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, ensuring an accessible work environment. Employees enjoy the benefit of a free community center membership, adding value to this rewarding role. Join the City of Shoreview as the Manager on Duty and contribute to creating memorable experiences for all community center visitors while advancing your career in event and facility management within a supportive and engaging municipal setting.
