Job Description

Taco Bell is a globally recognized fast-food restaurant chain specializing in Mexican-inspired cuisine, known for its innovative menu and vibrant dining experience. As part of Yum! Brands, Inc., Taco Bell operates thousands of locations worldwide, committed to delivering high-quality food with exceptional service in a clean and welcoming environment. The brand prides itself on fostering a culture of creativity, inclusivity, and community involvement, making it a popular choice among diverse customer groups and a desirable employer in the quick-service restaurant industry. Employment with Taco Bell offers opportunities for career growth, comprehensive training, and engagement in a dynamic, team-oriented workplace.

The role of the Restaurant General Manager (RGM) at Taco Bell is a critical leadership position responsible for the overall operational success of an individual Taco Bell unit. The RGM provides direct supervision and leadership over all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring the unit runs efficiently, profitably, and meets the company's high standards of cleanliness, hospitality, food quality, accuracy, building maintenance, and speed of service. This is a hands-on managerial role where the RGM actively participates in daily operational tasks to train employees, respond to guest service needs, and demonstrate exemplary skills and behaviors. The position requires strong leadership abilities, operational expertise, and an ability to uphold Taco Bell's brand values.

The General Manager's responsibilities encompass managing costs, including food, labor, cash, and other controllable expenses, aligning with company guidelines and budgets. They are accountable for delivering positive sales growth through continuous improvement efforts across key performance areas such as 5 Bells (a customer service metric), CORE standards, speed of service, and food quality. The RGM ensures adequate staffing levels across all shifts, conducts performance appraisals, and actively engages in hiring, coaching, and training of crew members, shift managers, and assistant general managers to maintain operational excellence and certification standards.

Maintaining restaurant cleanliness and adhering to food service sanitation rules and regulations are paramount to this role. The General Manager also ensures legal compliance with all employment laws and safety standards, maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for both guests and employees. Preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities is monitored, and any necessary repairs are reported promptly to relevant departments. Guest satisfaction is a top priority, with the RGM handling complaints effectively to foster repeat business and positive customer relationships.

Performance metrics are regularly reviewed by the RGM and shared with area coaches through daily and weekly meetings, covering sales, labor management, cash handling, food cost, and other key operational indicators. The RGM plays an essential role in turnover management by selecting, training, and fostering a positive workplace culture that motivates employees and reduces attrition. Occasional hands-on tasks such as food preparation and cash register handling may be required.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, financial acumen, and the ability to work flexible hours. Reliable transportation and punctuality are essential.
