Job Description
Panera is a well-established bakery-cafe chain renowned for its inviting atmosphere, fresh-baked goods, and commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. As a company, Panera fosters a supportive and inclusive work environment where employees are encouraged to be themselves, grow professionally, and achieve their goals. Operating hundreds of locations nationwide, Panera is dedicated to delivering a warm and memorable experience for every guest who walks through their doors. Transitioning from a family-owned bakery to a successful multi-unit concept, Panera has gained recognition for its food quality, customer service, and innovative menu offerings, including fresh breads, sandwiches, soups, salads, coffee, and more. The company is committed not only to customer satisfaction but also to the growth and development of its team members through clear career paths, ongoing training, and a vibrant culture.
As a Team Lead - Manager in Charge at Panera, this role is fundamental to the operational success and culture of each bakery-cafe. This leadership position involves overseeing daily operations, motivating and coaching team members, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. Team Leads function as key ambassadors of Panera's guiding values — warmth, belonging, growth, and trust — and they play an instrumental role in embedding these principles within their teams. The Team Lead is responsible for cultivating a positive work environment where every employee feels valued, respected, and inspired to perform at their best.
In addition to managing day-to-day functions, Team Leads at Panera focus on guest satisfaction by maintaining high standards for food quality, service speed, order accuracy, and safety protocols. They work closely with their bakery-cafe’s management team, reporting directly to the General Manager or Operating Partner, to drive sales performance and operational excellence.
The position offers competitive pay with opportunities for quarterly performance-based raises. Full-time employees enjoy paid vacation and holidays, along with comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan with company matching. Employees also receive free meals during shifts and have access to robust career growth opportunities within the company.
Successful candidates are those who have demonstrated commitment and experience within Panera (at least 90 days), possess certifications across service and production tracks, and show a strong dedication to safety standards and team leadership. Panera provides a structured training program, including completion of the Certified Manager Program and ServSafe certification, to support the candidate’s development.
Working as a Team Lead Manager in Charge at Panera is more than a job; it’s a chance to grow with a company that values team spirit, innovation, and personal growth. Panera supports its employees by providing skills training, leadership development, and nationwide opportunities as the company continues to expand by opening approximately 100 new cafes annually. Here, each day is a fresh start with an abundance of possibilities, inviting you to rise to new challenges and be part of a vibrant, thriving team culture where success is celebrated and careers flourish.
