Job Description
American Tire Depot is a leading automotive service company known for its commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences and high-quality service. As a prominent player in the automotive retail and service industry, American Tire Depot focuses on providing fast, accurate, and service-oriented solutions to its customers. The company prides itself on fostering a results-driven and performance-focused culture where every team member plays a vital role in shaping a positive environment both for clients and colleagues. With a strong emphasis on career growth and employee development, American Tire Depot offers comprehensive benefits and training programs designed to support long-term professional advancement in automotive service management and retail repair leadership. The company is committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace culture that celebrates diversity and values accountability and continuous improvement.
The Manager In Training role at American Tire Depot is a unique leadership development opportunity aimed at grooming motivated individuals for store management and multi-unit leadership positions. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage combined with commission and overtime possibilities, reflecting the company’s dedication to rewarding hard work and performance. Employees in this role will benefit from paid vacation and holidays, a robust benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and supplemental insurance plans, as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions. Additional perks include employee discounts, referral bonuses, and ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) reimbursement to support professional certification and growth.
The Manager In Training acts as a frontline leader who is responsible for driving the daily operations of the store. Responsibilities include setting the operational game plan, ensuring safety and cleanliness standards are met, and providing exceptional guest service from greeting customers and building repair estimates to closing sales confidently. This role serves as the critical link between service technicians and customers, translating complex automotive inspections into clear and trusted recommendations. Those hired will play a crucial role in team development by coaching advisors and technicians, reinforcing operational processes, celebrating achievements, and addressing performance gaps to foster a motivated and proficient workforce.
Operational duties span inventory management, ordering, cash handling, point-of-sale system operation, staff scheduling, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to guarantee compliance with OSHA and environmental health and safety standards. The Manager In Training is also expected to step in and lead effectively during the absence of the Store Manager, modeling the company’s high standards and ensuring smooth store operations at all times.
This position is ideal for candidates with 1 to 3 years of automotive service management or retail repair leadership experience, especially those with a strong background in service sales including tires, brakes, maintenance, or mechanical services. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, along with a valid driver’s license and the physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds, as hands-on involvement is sometimes required. Open availability including weekends is critical to support the team during peak business hours, emphasizing the role’s leadership responsibilities and active participation in daily store operations.
Joining American Tire Depot means becoming part of a company that values dedication, accountability, and career progression. Individuals selected as Managers In Training have a clear pathway toward advancement, supported by hundreds of team member promotions in store and multi-unit management roles. The company’s approach to leadership development combined with its inclusive work environment and competitive benefits makes this role a compelling opportunity for automotive service professionals seeking to elevate their careers while contributing to a high-performing team.
