Job Description
American Airlines is the largest airline in the world, recognized globally for its commitment to connecting people and cultures through extensive air travel and exceptional customer service. At the heart of the aviation industry, this leading airline offers opportunities to explore the world, grow professionally, and be part of a dynamic and supportive team. Headquartered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area, American Airlines has a robust infrastructure supporting millions of passengers annually, with a culture that values inclusion, diversity, and employee development. The company emphasizes work-life balance, giving its employees the chance to thrive both personally and professionally by offering competitive benefits and professional growth opportunities. Its reputation as an industry pioneer is matched by its dedication to operational excellence and sustainability, driving innovative solutions and safety across all aspects of its business operations.
This position is based at the DFW Headquarters Building 8 in Fort Worth, Texas, and serves as a key management role within the Fuel Supply and Operations team, which is part of American Airlines' Asset Management group. The role involves overseeing a team responsible for fuel operations, a critical aspect of the airline's daily functionality and operational efficiency. You will be managing complex infrastructure projects, vendor relationships, and contractual negotiations while aligning with corporate strategies to ensure that American Airlines' fueling needs are met consistently and cost-effectively. The Fuel Operations Manager shapes the strategy for fuel services, collaborates with multiple internal and external stakeholders—including Airport Authorities, fuel service contractors, consortiums, and airline partners—and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards. This position requires a leader who can juggle financial responsibilities, technical knowledge, and team management within a high-stakes environment.
As a strategic and operational leader, you will design and implement fuel operation plans with approval from senior management. Your role extends to managing significant budgets, investigating variances in financial planning, and fostering relationships across departments such as Maintenance, Technical Operations, Accounting, and Airports. Additionally, you will lead and coordinate fueling consortiums, which includes managing service provider selection and budget preparation for annual meetings and cost allocation methods. This role is essential for supporting the airline's commitment to efficient and safe operations while advancing innovative infrastructure systems and process improvements. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute cross-functionally, ensuring the alignment of fuel quality, safety, and regulatory compliance such as FAA standards. Joining American Airlines as the Fuel Operations Manager provides not only a challenging and rewarding career path but also competitive benefits and personal growth opportunities in a globally respected industry.
