Among its many facilities, Grace Hospital stands out as a center dedicated to delivering excellent patient care supported by various clinical and support services.
Within this dynamic healthcare environment, the Regional Food Services department at Grace Hospital plays an essential role in supporting patient health and recovery through nutritious and timely meal services. The department is part of the broader Nutrition & Food Services division of WRHA, which prioritizes food safety, dietary standards, and operational efficiency.
The Food Service Manager position at WRHA is a critical leadership role located at Grace Hospital. The Food Service Manager is also responsible for creating employee schedules, handling payroll processes, and ensuring proper budget management related to food service operations and capital expenditures. This position requires active participation in quality improvement programs aimed at enhancing service effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
Ideal candidates will bring a minimum of three years of food service operations experience that includes demonstrated management capabilities in purchasing and receiving. The position demands strong organizational and interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative work environment, along with a thorough understanding of occupational health and safety, and potentially LEAN methodologies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and familiarity with systems such as CBORD, ESP, and SAP is considered an asset.
Educational qualifications include a baccalaureate degree with a major in Food and Nutrition or an approved equivalent, plus completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship program. Candidates must be eligible for registration with a related professional association and hold valid certification from a recognized Food Handler's course.
The Food Service Manager is entrusted with upholding the highest standards of sanitation, equipment maintenance, health and safety compliance, and emergency preparedness. This role ensures that the department adheres to policies and procedures that meet or exceed governmental health and safety standards. Maintaining security and the operational integrity of all equipment and facilities within the department is a pivotal responsibility.
In summary, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to patient care in a reputable healthcare setting while building a career in clinical support services. The Food Service Manager will be a key leader in delivering nutritious and safe meals, essential to patient health and wellbeing in the Winnipeg Health Region.
