Job Description

FirstService Residential is a leading property management company specializing in providing comprehensive community management services across a wide range of residential communities. Known for its commitment to enhancing the quality of life within the managed communities, FirstService Residential delivers exceptional management solutions, including financial oversight, maintenance, and resident services. With a strong presence across multiple regions, the company prides itself on its professional approach, dedication to customer satisfaction, and the implementation of innovative operational practices to meet the evolving needs of its clients and residents.

The role of Manager, Food and Beverage with FirstService Residential is a pivotal position that offers leadership support and operational expertise in the food and beverage sector as a value-added service to the managed communities across the region. This role involves driving growth in food and beverage revenue while maintaining responsibility for profit and loss within operating budgets through detailed financial reporting and the effective management of food and beverage operations. The Manager will lead initiatives to enhance customer service and resident experience by developing and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices. The role requires collaboration with association boards, developers, and management teams to implement programs, products, pricing, and menu changes.

A key aspect of this position includes assisting properties with recruitment, mentoring, and training of food and beverage teams to maximize profitability and foster a culture of excellent service. Regular evaluations and strategic business recommendations will be presented to associations, supporting community growth and sales processes involving food and beverage operations. The Manager will also provide on-site support as needed to cover staffing shortages and ensure compliance with food and beverage standards. Budget review and assistance with new property assessments, transition checklists, and performance improvement plans form part of the responsibilities.

Further duties involve the development and updating of service standards across all food and beverage operations, participating in capital expenditure budgeting for kitchen and bar facilities, and spearheading start-up processes for new food and beverage outlets. The Manager will conduct front-of-house and back-of-house audits, oversee menu concept development, staffing guidelines, cost control, and revenue initiatives, always balancing resident satisfaction with financial accountability. The role demands proactive research, development, and implementation of new services, technology, and processes to adapt to changing service needs and an analytical approach to service feedback and operational trends.

The position requires frequent travel, up to 75 percent, including some nights and weekends, to various properties to conduct visits, audits, and meetings with management teams and lifestyle directors. The Manager will ensure food service teams are trained to company SOPs and health and safety standards while practicing FirstService Residential's global service standards. Ethical conduct, compliance with all operational policies, safety precautions, and the flexibility to perform additional duties as needed are integral to the role.

Supervisory responsibilities include matrix leadership of community food and beverage teams in cooperation with community general managers and association boards. Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, financial acumen, and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of food and beverage operations including bar management, casual and upscale dining, and kitchen procedures. This position is designed for a results-oriented professional capable of improving profitability, brand standards, cost control, and resident service scores within the approved budgets.

FirstService Residential offers a comprehensive benefits package including multiple medical plans, dental and vision coverage, paid time off, paid holidays, and a 401k plan with company match. This role is a fantastic opportunity for seasoned food and beverage professionals seeking to impact multiple communities while advancing their careers within a dynamic and reputable company.
