Job Description

Thanksgiving Point is a renowned nonprofit organization dedicated to sparking curiosity, inspiring confidence, and helping children and families discover something new every time they visit. This unique establishment is centered around museums, gardens, and farm experiences that create immersive, hands-on adventures focused primarily on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. The organization proudly serves as a vibrant community hub where the intersection of science, nature, and the arts comes alive in various enriching formats. Each year, thousands of guests explore Thanksgiving Point’s attractions, play engaging educational games, and grow intellectually and creatively in an environment full of inspiration and discovery. Rooted in a spirit of gratitude, Thanksgiving Point welcomes individuals who are passionate about meaningful work, teamwork, and fostering innovative ideas in a dynamic and welcoming workplace.

The role of Manager of Floral Design and Event Decor at Thanksgiving Point is a vital leadership position responsible for the creative direction and operational management of the Floral and Site Decor Department. This full-time, exempt position demands a hands-on manager with a strong artistic vision, exceptional organizational skills, and proven expertise in floral design and event decor. Reporting directly to the Campus Events leadership team, the manager oversees the planning, design, production, and installation of floral arrangements and decorative elements that elevate the atmosphere for numerous events including weddings, corporate functions, donor receptions, and major signature experiences held on the campus. The role also includes managing seasonal and thematic decor installations across the organization's museums, venues, and gardens, ensuring a cohesive and inspiring aesthetic for all visitors throughout the year.

Candidates for this role must be able to lead a team effectively by recruiting, training, scheduling, and developing staff members, cultivating a culture of creativity and exceptional customer service. The Manager will work collaboratively with event managers, sales teams, catering, A/V, and setup crews to ensure successful execution of events while managing departmental budgets, vendor relationships, inventory, and purchasing decisions. This multifaceted role requires adaptability and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, all while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and high artistic standards.

With an emphasis on practical experience as well as leadership ability, the ideal candidate will be deeply knowledgeable in floral design, event production, and décor installation, capable of personally participating in floral creation and installation activities when needed. This position also offers the unique opportunity to contribute to hallmark events such as the Tulip Festival, Imaginaria, Garden of Quilts, and Luminaria, all essential parts of Thanksgiving Point's signature calendar.

Thanksgiving Point offers a competitive wage commensurate with experience, a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as an HSA company match and a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions. Employees and their immediate families also enjoy free Thanksgiving Point memberships and access to exclusive venue discounts. This is a rare opportunity to join a mission-driven organization dedicated to educational enrichment and community engagement through creative floral design and event decor in a beautiful outdoor and indoor environment.
