Job Description

Nine PBS is a vital community institution dedicated to enhancing and deepening the understanding of the St. Louis region to support its growth and prosperity. Founded in 1954, Nine PBS has been a trusted source of community-centered content and resources for over 70 years. As a community-licensed public media station, Nine PBS operates four distinct broadcast channels—Nine PBS, Nine PBS KIDS®, Nine PBS World, and Nine PBS Create—alongside an expansive digital presence including ninepbs.org, social media platforms, the free PBS Video App, streaming services, live and virtual events, and the Public Media Commons. The organization is deeply rooted in the values of Community, Trust, Equity, and Learning, which shape how employees interact with each other and engage with their community. Nine PBS fosters a workplace culture that prioritizes inclusivity, collaboration, and well-being, with a leadership team committed to creating a positive and connected environment for all team members.

The Manager, Events at Nine PBS plays a crucial role in supporting the strategy and execution of various events that engage and inspire the local community. This full-time position, based in St. Louis, MO, with a salary range of $52,000 to $55,000, reports to the Senior Manager, Events & Engagement and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities encompass project management, vendor relations, logistics coordination, and day-of event leadership. Additionally, the Manager, Events supports marketing initiatives related to events, including graphic design, promotional material creation, and campaign coordination to boost attendance and community engagement.

Candidates will benefit from a hands-on position where their creativity, organizational skills, and collaborative spirit contribute directly to the Community's enrichment. This position requires an individual who can work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse team, ensuring seamless communication and aligned goals across departments. Adaptability is important given the event schedule’s requirement for evening and weekend availability. The ideal candidate brings experience with event management software, graphic design tools like Canva, and Microsoft Office applications, along with the physical ability to manage event setup and support as necessary.

Nine PBS invites candidates who are passionate about public media, community engagement, and event planning to join their team in a role that is as rewarding as it is dynamic. The Manager, Events helps deliver impactful experiences that strengthen the region’s cultural fabric and support community connections through meaningful public events and programs. This career opportunity offers growth potential within a respected institution dedicated to serving the St. Louis community with integrity, innovation, and heart.
