Job Description
The 4As, also known as the American Association of Advertising Agencies, serves as the authoritative voice of the advertising agency community across the United States. With a rich history stretching back over 108 years, the 4As has evolved from a reactive organization into a proactive leader that sets agendas, represents the broad agency community, and advocates for its constituents in an increasingly complex ecosystem that includes brands, platforms, creators, technology solutions, and clients. The significance of the 4As in the global advertising marketplace is underscored by the fact that the worldwide ad industry is expected to exceed $1 trillion in advertising spend, with the US alone contributing approximately $491 billion, representing 20% of the US GDP. This demonstrates the critical influence and prominence the association holds within the industry.
The 4As is currently seeking a Manager of Events to join their Content, Digital & Brand business unit located in the New York City area, with a hybrid work arrangement. This exempt position offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $85,000 annually and reports directly to the Vice President of Events & Conferences. The role is designed for an enthusiastic, self-directed, and collaborative professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional event experiences. The Manager of Events will play a pivotal role in planning and executing both in-person and virtual events that align with the 4As' mission to amplify the voice of the agency community and shape the advertising industry's future.
In this capacity, the Events Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth production and execution of events by partnering with various internal teams, including Partnerships and Practice Leads, to create cohesive and innovative event strategies. This role demands exceptional project management skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to innovate and implement best practices within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate entrepreneurial initiative by trying new approaches with minimal supervision while maintaining strong collaboration with colleagues. Their expertise will contribute to pushing boundaries within event production, elevating attendee experiences, and strengthening the 4As brand presence through flawless event delivery.
This role requires an individual deeply knowledgeable about event operations, capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously while exercising confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information. Key qualities for success include strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow through on commitments. The Manager of Events will lead the full lifecycle of event execution—from venue coordination and speaker management to on-site logistics and post-event reporting. Furthermore, the position encompasses managing event registration, marketing calendar, budget tracking, and vendor coordination while continuously seeking innovative solutions to improve processes and attendee engagement.
All in all, this opportunity at the 4As offers a meaningful platform for a motivated events professional to make a substantial impact on a national scale, contributing to the future direction of the advertising community and industry at large. This role is ideal for someone seeking professional growth in a well-established yet forward-thinking association, with the ability to influence the direction and success of flagship events that support and elevate the agency community.
