Job Description

Northrop Grumman is a global aerospace and defense technology company renowned for its pioneering innovations that have shaped the nation's history. With a rich heritage spanning from the first transatlantic flight to stealth bombers and moon landings, Northrop Grumman is committed to inventing the future through technological advancement and intellectual curiosity. The company fosters a culture of cognitive diversity and encourages employees to bring their whole selves to work, supporting a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. Employees at Northrop Grumman contribute to high-impact projects that influence global security and technology for generations to come, with a workplace driven by bold ideas, courage, and a pioneering spirit.

The Production Test Engineering Manager 2 role, based in Palmdale, CA, is an essential leadership position within Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems. This role is responsible for executing the production test Statement of Work (SOW), managing a diverse team of engineers and technicians who conduct static and dynamic testing across multiple cost centers. The position plays both a functional and programmatic leadership role, where the candidate spends 20% of their time on functional home room tasks and 80% on program-related responsibilities. The manager will lead teams of up to 15 flight test technicians and engineers, ensuring program milestones are met while forecasting requirements to avoid any constraints in test execution.

The manager also provides career guidance, mentoring, and functional direction for the test team and leverages support groups to aid test execution. Additional duties include coordinating with test leadership to maintain production schedules, supporting recruitment from requisition to hiring, and maintaining excellent communication with all organizational levels. Work shifts vary and can include 4x10 or 3x10 schedules across first and second shifts, reflecting the dynamic nature of the aerospace production environment.

Northrop Grumman offers flexible work arrangements, exceptional learning opportunities, and exposure to a broad array of projects and customers. The company culture emphasizes integrity through doing the right thing, fulfilling commitments by delivering predictable and balanced results, fostering shared success by working as OneNG, and pioneering to set visionary goals that inspire others. This role offers a competitive salary range of $146,600 to $219,800, with potential eligibility for overtime, shift differentials, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives for higher-level positions. Benefits include comprehensive healthcare coverage, life and disability insurance, a robust savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off. Northrop Grumman is an equal opportunity employer and requires U.S. citizenship due to government clearance requirements.
