Job Requirements

  • 4 year degree
  • 10 years of experience in construction and maintenance in the utility industry
  • experience in conducting safety training and enforcing safety policies
  • minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership responsibility
  • ability to lead employees in outside plant construction environment
  • knowledge of safety rules and regulations and completed applicable safety training
  • good judgment and problem solving skills
  • ability to work effectively with staff and customers

  • knowledge of large water distribution systems
  • ability to plan, schedule and direct multiple employees
  • knowledge of engineering principles
  • excellent communication skills
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Science and Management, Business or related field
  • Ten years of experience in utility industry construction and maintenance
  • Experience in conducting safety training and enforcing safety policies
  • At least three years of supervisory or leadership experience including employee performance reviews and managerial administrative tasks
  • Knowledge of large water distribution systems
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and direct multiple employees
  • Familiarity with engineering principles related to planning and cost estimation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, and ability to learn UKG, SAP, GIS, and AIMS software
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain composure in emergency situations
  • Able to meet attendance and emergency call-out expectations
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Job Duties

  • Manage and create work schedules for construction, maintenance, and valving crews
  • Coordinate distribution main replacement programs
  • Plan preventive maintenance and replacement of valves, fire hydrants, and meters
  • Review project documents and job sites for safety and compliance
  • Attend construction meetings and coordinate with contractors and municipalities
  • Supervise installation and maintenance of distribution facilities ensuring productivity and safety
  • Investigate utility damages and coordinate with claims departments
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations, mentoring, and training
  • Develop and monitor departmental budgets and approve expenditures
  • Lead emergency response and 24-hour callout rotations
  • Implement safety programs and perform risk management activities
  • Oversee data entry in GIS, ERP, and other technical applications
  • Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans for department goals
  • Conduct hiring interviews and make staffing decisions
  • Serve as Acting Director of the division as needed
  • Foster an inclusive and positive work environment
